It is still unclear whether Robert Lewandowski will leave Bayern Munich.

Barcelona's sports director has now denied an alleged meeting with his representatives.

Munich/Barcelona – You could read almost everywhere that Robert Lewandowski's advisors had met with FC Barcelona.

The Polish media even reported an agreement a few weeks ago.

But Barça sports director Mateu Alemany has now put an end to these rumors.

"I can assure you that there was no meeting with Lewandowski's representative.

When a player has a valid contract, the first thing we do is contact his club," he told Spanish TV channel Movistar+.

He did not want to comment on whether there are talks between the two clubs: "I don't like to report on ongoing negotiations."

FC Bayern: Lewandowski farewell in the summer unlikely

Lewandowski's contract with FC Bayern expires in just over a year.

"He has a contract until June 30, 2023. We will now hold talks and see how they develop," said Bayern sports director Hasan Salihamidzic recently.

Recently there was a first meeting between Lewandowski's advisor Pini Zahavi and the top management of FC Bayern.

Munich or Barcelona?

Both Salihamidzic and CEO Oliver Kahn ruled out a sale in the summer.

Two things seem most realistic at the moment: either a (relatively painful) free transfer in 2023 or staying at Bayern.

FC Bayern: Hoeneß believes in Lewandowski whereabouts

Honorary President Uli Hoeneß is firmly convinced that the Pole will stay for at least one more season.

"I'm 100 percent assuming that Robert will play for FC Bayern next year," he told Bayerischer Rundfunk (BR).

Why?

"Because he has a contract, quite simply."

There are still no statements from Lewandowski himself. Apparently he is still pondering.

His trainer Julian Nagelsmann put gentle pressure on him and would welcome "planning security".

Because the young coach still has a lot to do with the record champions - the keyword is to turn inside out, and not just the team.
