The World Wheelchair Tennis Championship began in Portugal with the participation of the cycling team consisting of Ilan Spivak Raj: Guy Sasson, Adam Berdyevsky, Sergei Lizov and captain Ofer Sela, and the quad team (severely disabled): Shraga Weinberg from Ilan Spivak Raj, Yossi Saadon From the Warrior's House in Tel Aviv, and Captain Nimrod Bichler.
In the first game of the home stage, the Howen team lost to the United States 2: 1. Sasson and Berdychevsky won in pairs, but Lizov and Berdychevsky lost in singles.
The quad team also met the USA team on the first day of the championship, and lost to them in a close battle with a 2: 1 result. After Saadon defeated Weinberg in singles, the American pair won the decisive game.
