After seven years at FC Bayern Munich, Nico Feldhahn is retiring.

Campus boss Holger Seitz wants to keep the long-standing amateur captain in the club.

Munich - "The time has come, what one or the other fan has already suspected, maybe one or the other fan also hopes: That the old fat man back there will finally come out," laughs Nicolas Feldhahn, whom everyone at FCB just calls Nico, and announces: "I will give up football after this year." In an interview with "fcbayern.tv", the long-time captain of the FC Bayern amateurs talks about the end of his career.

FC Bayern II: Captain Feldhahn disembarks - "Nico will always have legendary status among amateurs"

"Nico will always have legendary status among amateurs," homages campus boss Holger Seitz on the club's website.

Feldhahn played for the reserves of the German record champions for seven years and introduced countless talents to men's football.

In 2015, the 35-year-old came to the Isar from VfL Osnabrück.

Incidentally, the first major youth club of the native of Munich was TSV 1860.

However, FC Bayern Munich does not want to let go completely: Seitz is currently speaking to Feldhahn, FC Bayern wants to integrate the leader into the work on campus after his active career.

FC Bayern offers a job on campus: Nico Feldhahn is looking forward to a break

"I'm definitely looking forward to not having any appointments in the near future, to having the weekends off, to being a bit more flexible," Feldhahn himself thinks at least of a break, "if we're going to talk about the new training start again I can say: Okay, I'll sit back and relax.” His law degree also challenges him.

"It could well be that in two or three months I'll say: It sucks to stop," Feldhahn says with a laugh.

Although he then doubts it.

The days are definitely getting more and more emotional.

FC Bayern II still has four games to play.

The first on Wednesday evening against TSV 1860 Rosenheim (to the live ticker).

If a victory is achieved in the catch-up game, there is still the mathematical possibility that the captain will say goodbye with the regional league championship and promotion to the 3rd league.

Nico Feldhahn has already managed this feat once with FC Bayern II.

The amateurs even crowned their ascent the following year with the third division championship.

The defensive specialist can also call himself the 2016 Supercup winner.
