It runs at the Auerbach ski club.

Auerbach – Monika Schwarzbözl has been chairwoman of the Auerbach Ski Club together with Claudia Joos for a year now.

"And since the election there has been no slacking off," she told the annual general meeting.

And that despite Corona and the mild winter.

Of course, some things fell flat again last year - such as the ski courses.

But the respective division heads were also able to report on many successes - and look forward to a rosy future.

Because even if not everything went well outside: The club has done its homework.

Mayor Christian Pröbst, for example, admitted that he was a bit jealous of the figures presented by cashier Susanne Deimel.

Even if sales were significantly lower than in corona-free years, the SCA made a profit thanks to the income of around 75,500 euros.

The cash position changed only slightly from 39,000 euros on January 1, 2021 to 38,856 euros on December 31.

However, the association has repaid its loan from 22,000 to 1,800 euros.

Almost debt-free - "I'd like to be able to say that too," said Pröbst with a smile.

Before that, he and the 48 members present were happy about the successes achieved by the alpine racing group.

She laid the foundation for this in the five-day training camp on the Pitztal Glacier, as reported by alpine sports director Ralf Schmidmüller.

In addition to many podium finishes at district and regional level, Jannis Ilse also showed their class at the German School Cup and Johannes Denteler in the German Ski League at national level.

"Jannis was accepted into the district team because of his excellent performance," reported Schmidmüller to the applause of the members.

Sarah Schranner, who came third in the U16 championships this year, is switching back to the SCA.

She is now starting again for her home club, for which this year the freeriders Patrick (2nd place Freeride Junior Tour) and Jil Lehnert (9th place)

Schmidmüller was particularly proud that Johannes Denteler successfully passed the examination for trainer-B competitive sports: "We have never had a trainer with this qualification before." Denteler takes care of the internal further training of the SCA ski trainers together with Katahrina Härtl.

It also fits that the SCA has a state-certified ski instructor for the first time in Florian Reiter.

The 28-year-old is now a snow sports instructor, so he can also give lessons in schools and knows all the finer points, from alpine to cross-country skiing to telemark.

The training (“It’s comparable to a master’s school”), which the mechanical engineer, who lives in Garmisch, completed alongside his job, cost around 10,000 euros.

The winter season started with a home game for the Nordic department.

Sports director Gerrit Herrmann reported on the ski jumping of the mini tour with 57 participants, including the SCA jumpers Leonie Karl, Klara Masek, Henry Mang, Moritz Schwarzbözl and Arne Schleicher.

Herrmann regretted: "Due to the weather, we weren't able to train at home on the ski jump this year." If the winters don't get any better, it should be considered "whether we shouldn't mount the snow mounts and also train on mats in winter".

Rudi Heilmaier also struggled with the weather, who keeps the ski jumps and sports grounds in good shape with his team and worked 40 hours preparing for the mini-tournament, for example.

Later they got the snow guns and did a test run.

"Unfortunately, the minus temperatures weren't sufficient for snow production," he explained, explaining why there was ultimately no snowmaking for the whole winter.

However, there is no trace of frustration, Heilmaier already has the next projects on his list: "There is some work waiting on the K 10 ski jump and the lighting has to be repaired." and a few adults had taken part, which actually would hardly have been necessary, "because the Auerbachers are so well-behaved.

Nobody throws anything in the landscape."

The campaign was like an Easter egg hunt: "The children were free when they found a paper."

SCA boss Joos also feels a thirst for action everywhere in the 740-strong club.

Whether sporty, like the ten-week Team Fit Challenge devised by Thomas Furtner and Johannes Denteler, or the Auerbach Cinema Night, which is planned for July 30 - there is a lot on the list in the coming months, she says.

Some things that the members have come up with are not accommodated this year.

"But then just next year," she said.

Because then the SCA will also be celebrating its 70th anniversary.

Doesn't sound like snorting.
