Many foreigners landed in Israel and over the years became full-fledged Israelis.

Giovanni Russo is a name that every home in Israel knows.

Gustavo Bucoli, another ex of Maccabi Haifa, placed his family in the city and became a real Israeli, even before we mentioned Shura Obarov, Murad Magamedov and others.

But with all due respect to the "new Israelis", the one who has been somewhat forgotten by the Israeli consciousness is the star of the historic championship of Kiryat Shmona, David Solari.

Although the Argentine does not speak fluent Hebrew and does not live in Israel, the historic championship in the north was not the most significant thing that happened to him a decade ago.

In that unforgettable season, Solari met Tzlil, a resident of Kiryat Shmona, and very quickly the two fell in love when Solari even decided to perform a circumcision as proof of his love.

Today, a decade later, Tzlil and David are happily married and living in Larnaca, Cyprus, when only two months ago their second son, Matthew, was born to join their eldest son Rio.

Came to Israel as a bachelor and went out with a family.

That Kiryat Shmona championship is remembered thanks to local youngsters such as Danny Amos, Shir Tzedek, Elroy Cohen, Adrian Rochet and others, but the moment that symbolized it most of all - the one every average Israeli fan remembers - is the gate of January's acquisition, David Solari, plus Time against Bnei Yehuda.

It was this gate that made everyone internalize for the first time that a great sensation was about to occur.

Solari landed last week on a family visit to Israel and took time to talk about the mythological season, Ran Ben Shimon, Barak Bachar, owner Izzy Shretzky, the game that changed his career (and not for the better), the brothers who make a difference even after retirement, his family is more Israeli than Argentine and sends a message To all those who mourned Lionel Messi and the Argentina national team.

Festive interview in honor of Independence Day.

David, what are you doing these days?

"I live in Cyprus, I came to Israel for 10 days in honor of Passover with my wife's family, but our residence has been in Larnaca for four years now. I am a football agent and I have an agency in Cyprus."

Do you intend to enter the Israeli market?

"I don't have any players here right now, but I'm definitely planning."

We are a decade from winning the championship of Kiryat Shmona.

Can they or another "small" group recreate such a sensation again?

"Anything is possible of course. I think the championship was a process of a young team with a lot of young and talented players who played together for a long time and went through the process together. The team was very connected so it was successful and it's hard to repeat it in such a short time. In a short time, probably for a club with a relatively small budget. "

You came in the middle of the championship season, but there are still many who attribute to you the biggest part of winning.

"I believe I have a part in the championship, but I came to a very good team, with talented players and an excellent coach. I believe Sharan was the best fit for the team. There was a great atmosphere, each player knew exactly what he needed to do. Obviously I helped the team take the championship, "In football, this is a team and not a player. Together we have made a historic achievement."

What was Ren's magic secret in this group?

"I only have good things to say about Ren. First of all he gave me the opportunity to get to Kiryat Shmona and succeed there. Besides, I really think he did a great job. Ren does not only do professional work, he works a lot on the psychological side and that's important in football There was a young team and Ren was perfect for her. Ren knew how to manage the team, he knew how to keep healthy competition between the players and that's our biggest key, because everyone who played - played for the team. "Barak Bachar

was

the assistant coach this season and coached you later. Are you surprised that many now crown him the best Israeli coach?

" Barak was Ran's balance.

Ren was more vibrant and a more calculated and quieter brilliance.

I think he had a big part in the championship as well.

I had a very good relationship with him.

It really does not surprise me that he succeeds like this. "

What is his secret?

"He did an excellent job in Kiryat Shmona and then in Be'er Sheva and Maccabi Haifa. I think the reason for his success is because he knows how to manage situations in an excellent way. He puts out fires quietly that elsewhere would have turned into real chaos."

Kiryat Shmona of then is Lester of Israel?

"You can say that, definitely. Kiryat Shmona is also a great city, the team is really a family. I was there last week and a lot of good memories came back to me. I hope they can win another championship in the coming years."

Everyone has been talking in recent years about Izzy's involvement, how much did you feel about him?

"He was very involved, he would come and support the team. Izzy, and this is not an opinion but a fact, has the biggest part in Kiryat Shmona's success as a club. We were not affected by his involvement with the coach."

After Kiryat Shmona you were in Ashdod, Maccabi Petah Tikva and Afula, you could not restore the success.

What happened?

"In Ashdod I had a good season until the injury and I was in good shape. It was not easy to come back after injuries and maintain your level, but from my experience after the first injury I felt I could return to my fitness. After the second injury I already felt I was not the same player."

You're 36, it's an age you're still playing.

Why did you decide to retire?

"After the second injury I felt I was not at the same level. Once I realized I was no longer playing at a good enough level, I decided to retire because I was not enjoying my fitness."

"I believe I could definitely have played at high levels had it not been for the injuries."

Already when you arrived in Israel, you said: 'I came to take the championship.'

What made you believe?

"I realized very quickly that it could happen and that there is a team that needs to be a champion"

Is this the peak achievement of your career?

"Definitely. Kiryat Shmona was the biggest achievement of his career and also the biggest pain of his career, which is the loss in the Cup final a season later."

Did it break you?

"It was crazy we lost, I miss the trophy. I think it was the game that marked my future. If we had won the trophy for sure I would have stayed. I did not stay because we did not get along, but if we had won for sure I would have stayed."

So maybe you were wrong when you left?

"It certainly could have been a mistake, but I believe it all happens for a reason and I have no regrets."

What is it like to be part of such a big football family?

"Obviously I grew up with the ball close to me all the time. I have to say my parents never pressured us or pushed us to go to football, but the ball was always there and we all loved it."

Your brother Esteban is the assistant coach of the young Argentina team, Santiago coached Real Madrid and Uncle Jorge was also a famous coach.

Is this something you are aiming for?

"No, not at all. After retirement I decided not to be a coach. I want to be stable with the family and not wander all the time, and the life of a coach and an actor is in migration. My father was a coach and we always changed countries and schools. I do not want to do that to my children. ".

Why did you decide to stay and live in Cyprus?

"I retired here and we really liked the country and the fact that it is close to Israel and Tzlil's family. It was great for us."

Many Israelis and foreigners who come to play in Kiryat Shmona say that it is a bit boring in the quiet of the north.

How did you deal with it?

"I have lived in many places and I really like the north of Israel. I think it also depends on what stage of life you get to a certain place. I knew my wife's sound this season, so the whole arrival in Israel was perfect for me."

Your children's are called Rio and Matthew, you did not choose Israeli names.

"It's funny because I wanted Israeli names, but Tzlil didn't want to, so we chose those names."

Do you recognize sparks of a footballer in Rio?

"I do not know yet, he is only three and a half years old. But he kicks a lot, loves the ball very much and wants to be with him all the time. He has an Israeli passport, so maybe a very good striker (laughs) will come to the Israeli team."

Where would you like him to play if he is a player - Argentina or Israel?

"We are closer to Israel, so whoever calls him first will win it, maybe we should put him on the list from now on so that the team does not miss (laughs)."

You made a circumcision after you knew the sound, it's not something common.

"It was spontaneous. I wanted to prove my feelings for her and I did. It didn't hurt at all and had no effect."

It is impossible to finish with you without talking about the Argentine national team, is it possible to win Qatar 2022?

"I believe we have a team in very good shape, I believe in the team and of course I believe in Messi because it is impossible not to believe in him. It will be very difficult but possible."

What is being said in Argentina about Messi's tough season in Paris?

"Leo did not expect to leave Barça and in football there is also everything around. The transfer was difficult for him, but when he comes to the national team it will be different and he will be committed. I believe in Leo."
