Tennis legend Boris Becker has completed his first days in Wandsworth prison.

This is what his new routine looks like.

Munich/London - On Friday, April 29, 2022, Boris Becker was sentenced to two and a half years in prison.

Shortly after the verdict, the former tennis hero was already in handcuffs on his way to South London's Wandsworth prison.

After a few formalities and a questioning, we went straight to the cell.

It is important to note that Wandsworth is a remand prison.

It is used to temporarily lock criminals away.

Accordingly, according to

The Mirror

, it is unlikely that Becker will spend his entire sentence in South London's hard-hitting prison.

Boris Becker: What does his everyday life in prison look like?

What will the future of Becker, the former Wimbledon champion, look like?

The first week will be characterized by many formalities.

As a rule, Becker's day will begin between seven and eight o'clock, as

reported by

bild.de.

From eight o'clock in the evening there is bed rest in the cell.

Prison regulations, job opportunities, sports facilities and much more will be explained to him in the first few days.

Becker is therefore allowed to receive visitors once a week.

From Monday to Thursday at the following times: 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m., 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m., 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Daughter Anna Ermakova wants to visit Boris Becker whenever she can.

Ex-wife Lilly also encourages Becker.

According to BILD

information, every inmate receives

“three to four pairs of socks, three or four pairs of pants, two jogging bottoms and tops and three to four T-shirts” every week.

Journalist and ex-Wandsworth inmate Chris Atkins reports to

bild.de

that you get a prison suit that stinks of the sweat of the predecessor.

Boris Becker: New job as a trainer in the gym?

Becker should initially have to stay in the "Induction Wing" for up to ten days, i.e. the wing for newcomers.

This is due to the Corona regulations.

Former prison warden Jerry Petherick recommends that Becker work as a gym coach, saying it's a very popular job in prisons.

That does require good behavior for the first six weeks though, he tells

The Sun

.

Becker should initially have a cell to himself, as the English

Daily Mail

writes.

However, it is questionable whether this will remain the case.

The cells are 6.5 square meters.

There should be a television with six channels, a small sink, a place to sleep and a toilet, but without a privacy screen.

wants to

know about this.

Former inmates tell of miserable conditions at Wandsworth Prison

What will our one-time tennis hero eat?

According to Atkins, the canteens at Wandsworth are abysmal, based on reports from former inmates.

Atkins reports that the cells are cold and are rarely allowed out into the daylight.

There are group showers in each wing, up to a hundred people use them at the same time.

The approximately 1,300 prisoners have to clean their cells themselves, but there are not enough cleaning supplies.

"I had to help myself with a toothbrush," Atkins recalls in his

BILD

interview.

Ex-prisoners report disastrous hygiene standards.

In addition, there is an enormous amount of noise generated by drug addicts and the desperate.

"Yelling, pounding, screaming, grunting, barking, threatening, swearing, laughing, whining, arguing, howling, shrieking - it's like someone downloaded every single sound effect and is pressing them all at once," the journalist describes.

Drugs and tobacco can be obtained from corrupt employees, but at horrendous prices.

Incidentally, Wandsworth Prison is only four kilometers from Wimbledon.

Joy and sorrow are so close sometimes.
