Today (Thursday) on the eve of the 74th Independence Day of the State of Israel, is a day that Izzy Shretzky will not forget.

The businessman and owner of the Kiryat Shmona football team receives great honor today, when he receives the Israel Prize in the field of "Lifetime Achievement" at the state ceremony in the nation's buildings in the presence of: Prime Minister Naftali Bennett, President Yitzhak Herzog and Education Minister Yifat Shasha Bitton.

Shretzky began investing in the city of Kiryat Shmona in the late 1990s, when he initially donated to community institutions in the city that was suffering from Katyusha fire from Lebanon at the time.

At that time, Shretzky complied with the request of the then mayor, Haim Barbibai, and took ownership of the city's football team.

During the time of Shretzky, Kiryat Shmona was promoted to the senior leagues for the first time, and in the 2006/07 season, it qualified for the Premier League.

In the 2011/12 season, the team won the first historic championship in its history.

In addition, the team under Shretzky has twice won the National League Toto Cup, twice the Premier League Toto Cup, the National Cup and the Champions League.
