Adverse conditions prevailed at the Bavarian duathlon championship.

Moritz Hartmann from Post SV was not deterred.

The youngster did his thing.

Weilheim – One thing is clear: Moritz Hartmann is absolutely not a fair-weather athlete.

The 15-year-old from Post SV Weilheim defied adverse external conditions at the Bavarian duathlon championship and won the title in the "Youth B" age group.

Continuous rain and a cool seven degrees Celsius accompanied the event, which took place in Hilpoltstein.

The Middle Franconian town is not far from Roth, the scene of the world-famous triathlon "Challenge".

The participants in the duathlon did not have to swim – running, cycling and running again were on the program at the championships.

Moritz Hartmann and his peers had to cover a total distance of 13 kilometers.

The Post-SV athlete, who has been part of the Bavarian triathlon squad since autumn 2021, took the lead on the first lap over two kilometers.

On the ten-kilometer bike course, the youngster further increased his lead over the competition and didn't let anything burn out on the final running kilometer either.

After 29:41 minutes he crossed the finish line.

The advantage over the runner-up, Moritz Kaunz (FC Deining), was 1:16 minutes.

21 male and female B youths were judged.

The fastest participant was Alba Warter Rubio (TV Erlangen) with a time of 32:56 minutes.

The bike ratio was limited for the B youths: a maximum rolling length of 6.10 meters per crank revolution was allowed.

For Hartmann, the championship was the prelude to several major triathlon competitions throughout Germany.

Next, the squad member, whose father Jürgen is also active at Post SV, is aiming for a start at the DTU Youth Cup in Forst in der Lausitz (May 22nd).

Then it's on to the youth championships in Lübeck (June 19) and the DTU youth cup in Jena (July 3).

Post-SV member Dominic Wimmer just barely missed a medal.

The man from Dießen took fourth place in the M40 age group.

Wimmer was only 19 seconds away from the bronze medal.

The adults had to complete an 8 km run, 30 km bike ride and 3 km run.

Wimmer covered the distance in 1:39:15 hours.

The Bavarian championship title (overall ranking) went to Sebastian Schrenker (1:29:53) from TSV Wasserburg and Julia Stern (1:41:06) from TuS Fürstenfeldbruck.
