Bayern Bundesliga club VfB Hallbergmoos has extended their contract with eight players.
But three club legends are breaking up in the summer.
Hallbergmoos
- In the relegation battle of the Bayernliga Süd, VfB Hallbergmoos has a squad that tears itself apart for their club and wants to prevent the transition back to the Landesliga with all their might.
This team has team spirit and potential - and it will stay together to a very large extent: The fact that so many players remain loyal to VfB regardless of future league affiliation is an announcement shortly before the season finale.
The basis of the future team is in place
Sporting director Anselm Küchle announced that he has extended the contract with Carl Opitz, Simon Werner, Fabian Diranko, Philipp Beetz, Andreas Giglberger, Christoph Mömkes, Johannes Petschner and Michael Schrödl.
The kickers have mostly signed up for two years and, together with other players who still have contracts, form the basis of the future team.
In addition, Matthias Strohmaier ("Hallbergmoos is one of the most exciting projects in this region") will continue to coach the club next season.
(By the way: everything from the region is now also available in our regular Freising newsletter.)
With his contract extension, Simon Werner wanted to make an important personal statement.

The footballers make it clear that they absolutely wanted to stay at VfB: "Fortunately, my learning process is continuing," says Carl Opitz, who once came to Hallbergmoos as a nobody.
Simon Werner emphasizes that "it is very important to me, especially now in the difficult sporting situation, to commit to the club and the team".
Fabian Diranko refers to the "family atmosphere outside the square".
Philipp Beetz, who moved to the Munich area four years ago, speaks of "an absolute stroke of luck" at VfB - and for Andreas Giglberger the extension "in my footballing homeland" was simply a matter of course.
Homegrown Christoph Mömkes also quickly accepted and extended the contract with a kiss on the crest of his jersey, as can be seen in a photo on the club's website.
Kozel, Hammerl and Edlböck end their careers
It is therefore clear that VfB Hallbergmoos only needs selective reinforcements for the second season in the Bayernliga or the project for promotion to the Landesliga.
However, it is also certain that at least three squad places will be free: With keeper Ferdinand Kozel (32), central defender Dennis Hammerl (32) and six Thomas Edlböck (31), three club legends have decided after many years in Hallbergmoos and a few promotions this summer to end the career.
These steps have been in the offing for a long time - and here too it would not be a surprise if the trio stayed with the club as fans in the stands or in other functions.
In addition, there should only be a few departures in the summer, which makes the personnel planning for VfB sports director Anselm Küchle manageable.
But now the players grab
