Spring time and the beginning of summer mean vacation and relaxation for winter sports stars.

As for a biathlete who was drawn to the Caribbean.

Maho Beach - "Please put your seat backs up, buckle up and fold the table up", every passenger has heard this announcement before.

If you walk along Maho Beach without any previous knowledge, your jaw will drop and your hair will stand up.

Because the spectacle that happens there every hour is unusual for holidaymakers who also want to have peace and quiet.

Winter athlete and biathlete Ivona Fialkova was happy about the entertainment.

The Slovak spent her time on the Caribbean island of St. Martin.

More precisely at the notorious Maho Beach, which is known for the low-flying planes.

Because the beach, located in the Dutch part of the island, borders Princess Juliana International Airport.

The planes land and take off there frequently and provide spectacular images, as with Fialkova.

The machines are supposed to whiz over their heads up to just under ten meters.

When the plane took off, the 57-year-old was hit by the thrust and later succumbed to her injuries in the hospital.

There are also warning signs for tourists on the beaches.

The deceased New Zealander is said to have held on to the airport fence and dared to get as close as possible to the dangerous area that was explicitly warned of.

Officially, however, there have been few incidents so far, but according to media reports it should happen from time to time.

Other biathletes are also on vacation, Dorothea Wierer spent the sunny time in the desert and was particularly keen on having a large selection of one outfit.
