TSV Dorfen offers Freilassing a big fight: in the end, the strength is missing

The TSV Dorfen has properly heated up the ESV Freilassing.

Despite being in the lead twice, it wasn't enough to win a point in the end.

– In the district league catch-up game, TSV Dorfen pulled off the affair more than respectably against second-placed ESV Freilassing.

Although there was a 2:3 (2:1) defeat, the people from Isenstadt were equal to their opponent at all times.

After the rather poor performance against FC Aschheim, Dorfener showed what they are really made of.

Coach Christoph Deissenböck spoke in advance of the "maximum challenge".

His team accepted this impressively and, despite many failures, offered a game worth seeing.

It started right away.

Two ESV defenders couldn't control the ball properly, Manuel Zander was there and made it 1-0 (8th).

But the guests didn't need to be asked: After a foul by Hannes Hellfeuer on Simon Schlosser, there was a free kick.

Markus Hunklinger's cross reached Marco Schmitzberger, his header into the far corner was then untenable for Johannes Huge (12').

But the villagers did not let up.

Yusuf Mutlu headed just wide after a free-kick from Alexander Linner (15').

After a corner from Linner, captain Gerhard Thalmaier got the shot – off to the right (18').

After a cross from Sebastian Bauer, Oliver Hauthaler cleared Zander for a corner (23').

Then the pressure from the locals got too strong.

With a deliberate shot from 18 meters into the far corner, it was Zander again who scored to make it 2-1 (28th).

Then Huge showed himself on the post when he safely buried a shot from Hunklinger (31st).

That was the first 45 minutes.

Then came the rain and a thunderstorm.

It was getting dark, there was lightning and thunder.

Despite this impairment, the game maintained its top level.

Freilassing pushed for an equalizer, Dorfen was always dangerous with counterattacks.

The hard program of the last few weeks had apparently cost too much substance.

The guests kept coming.

Danger threatened again and again, especially on the left side with the lively Schmitzberger.

A shot from 14 meters from Sascha Schimag made it 2-2 (55').

Eight minutes later, Maik Gunawardhana shot from 17 meters, the ball deflected and landed in the net to make it 3-2 for Freilassing.

TSV's final offensive brought nothing - an unfortunate defeat.
