A heavy blow for the German women's national soccer team: Director Dzsenifer Marozsán is out for the European Championships in England in the summer (July 6th to 31st).

The 30-year-old from Olympique Lyon was operated on on Tuesday after a cruciate ligament rupture on her right knee and will have to take a break for at least six months.

According to the DFB, the 2016 Olympic champion suffered the injury in mid-April in the 2-3 World Cup qualifier in Serbia.

The 111-time national player, who has had to overcome many health problems, will also miss the Champions League final against FC Barcelona (May 21) in Turin.

In the summer of 2018, she suffered a bilateral pulmonary embolism.

At the 2019 World Cup, after breaking a toe in the opening game, she was only able to play again in the quarter-finals.

Marozsán has already won the Champions League five times, already in 2013 she was European champion with the DFB selection.

At the tournament in England, they face an even more difficult task in a group that is already strong with Spain, Denmark and Finland.

Leupolz is also missing

Previously, Melanie Leupolz had already had to do without the European Championship.

However, for a more gratifying reason - the Chelsea midfielder is expecting a child.
