Leverkusen will play in the premier class next season because top scorer Patrick Schick scored twice at TSG Hoffenheim. Cologne can no longer slip from the European places - despite the defeat.

Bayer 04 Leverkusen will also play in the Champions League next season – thanks to Patrick Schick.

The Czech top scorer helped Bayer decisively to turn the game at TSG Hoffenheim to a 4: 2 (1: 2).

At first, Leverkusen made life difficult for themselves: Piero Hincapie gave Hoffenheim the lead through Georginio Rutter by losing the ball (22').

Schick equalized with a direct acceptance (34'), but Christoph Baumgartner immediately headed TSG back into the lead (36').

After the break, Leverkusen's offensive started to roll: Moussa Diaby (73'), Schick again, who asserted himself well in the penalty area (76') and Lucas Alario (90'+1) turned the game around.

Thanks to the win, Leverkusen have 61 points and can no longer be ousted from third place in the table.

After a 1: 4 (0: 3) against Union Berlin, SC Freiburg has to worry about the possible first participation in the Champions League in the club's history.

Especially in the first half, everything went against the team coached by Christian Streich - and for Union: The guests from the capital were mercilessly efficient, while an alleged equalizer from SC Freiburg by Lucas Höler because of a handball just before the goal was scored didn't count ( 23.).

Previously, Grischa Prömel had already pushed the ball over the line from a few centimeters (11th), after Freiburg's Maximilian Eggestein had deflected a cross from Sheraldo Becker onto his own inside post.

The outstanding Becker also prepared the 2-0 with a cross for Christopher Trimmel (30th), before the Dutchman scored the third Union goal himself (41st).

After the break, the video assistant was more merciful with Höler, whose goal after a wrong offside whistle was saved (59).

But it wasn't enough for Freiburg to catch up, instead András Schäfer made the final decision for Union late in the game.

1. FC Köln still had a chance at the premier class, but after the 1-0 (0-1) home defeat against VfL Wolfsburg, they will probably have to make do with the Europa League or Conference League.

Cologne started the game much more actively than VfL, top scorer Anthony Modeste forced Wolfsburg's Pavao Pervan, who replaced the injured goalkeeper Koen Casteels, to make the first brilliant save (3').

However, the rare moments in Wolfsburg's offensive were quite impressive - and also successful shortly before the break: After an outstanding deep pass from Lukas Nmecha, Jonas Wind put the ball in the middle to Yannick Gerhardt, who ran with him.

Gerhardt, who had worn the jersey of 1. FC Köln for 13 years, scored the lead but didn't celebrate too much (44').

After the break, Nmecha even seemed to step up, but was offside when he supposedly scored (56th).

With 52 points, 1. FC Köln is only in seventh place, which would entitle them to participate in the Europa Conference League given two better-placed teams in the cup final.

After all: Thanks to Hoffenheim's defeat against Leverkusen, TSG can no longer displace Cologne from the European places.

Dortmund is second, Fürth is last, both clubs will remain in their positions.

The best conditions for a leisurely summer kick - and it wasn't much more than that with BVB's 3-1 (1-0) away win.

At Stefan Leitl's last home game as Kleeblatt coach, the Fürth team showed once again that they had developed in the second half of the season, were the better team in the early stages and almost took the lead through Branimir Hrgota (23').

However, an offside whistle spoiled the joy.

Julian Brandt put BVB in the lead (26') and scored the second goal (72') after Jessic Ngankam had equalized in the meantime (70').

Felix Passlack scored the final score (77th).
