The Tel Aviv Grand Prix in track cycling ended today (Saturday) at the Silvan Adams National Velodrome, located in the Hadar Yosef National Sports Center in Tel Aviv, which was a preparation for the World Youth Championships, which will be held in August at the same location.
In the same competition where different allocations were made in the industry, a VAR-like VAR system was also tried for the first time, according to the requirements of the World Cycling Union (UCI), where judges allow different situations to be examined, and during competition, coaches can challenge positions and offenses.
One of the main events that locked up the Grand Prix, is the Omanium competition - perhaps the most prestigious competition, consisting of six types of track races: race against the clock, points race, chase, levitation, scratch race and relegation race, with four of them competing this time.
The gold medal was won by the Polish Daniel Staniszowski, a bronze medalist from the 2019 European Games, who scored 133 points in total, and was ahead of his teammate Keper from Javsky with 131 points, while in third place was the Israeli Rotem Tene with 115 points.
In the women, German Pinya Smekel took first place with 166 points and was ahead of Israeli Uri Bash, who scored 125 points throughout the competition, one more than her friend Healy Biderman, who did so at the very last minute, with one point more than American Kathleen Abadi.
