The TC Peiting sees the structural reform in the BTV quite positively.

The club sends 22 teams into the summer season.

The gentlemen start with a real derby.

Peiting – The corona pandemic, as is slowly becoming apparent, does not have purely negative aspects for all sports.

The pandemic even “played a little into the hands of tennis”, as Thomas Brenzing, sports director of TC Peiting, says.

As an open-air game in which - apart from the handshake - there is no physical contact and the opponents act meters away from each other, the "white sport" has a clear advantage over other disciplines.

At TC Peiting, this was immediately reflected in the number of members.

They have now increased from 180 to 250.

There was also a large increase in the offspring: while around 60 children and young people were previously registered with the TCP, there are now around 100. This also has an impact on the summer season, which begins this weekend.

The proud number of 22 teams (eleven youth and adult teams) send the people of Peiting into the race.

Only the TC Weilheim (31 teams with over 500 members) can muster more in the district this summer.

In order to be able to offer the youngsters appropriate training, the people from Peiting have even committed a former top player from the Czech Republic.

Radek Koudela was a professional, but then had to end his career early due to injury.

He now looks after the children and young people two days a week during the season.

The number of junior teams at TCP has increased significantly compared to previous years.

The youngest play in the U9 Kleinfeldliga, the oldest in juniors 18 and juniors 18.

For adults, Peitinger has three teams in the BTV area.

The men 40 who compete in Landesliga 1 play the highest.

In the Landesliga 2, the women play 40 and the men 60. Everything is as usual for the men 40: "Basically, the goal is first of all to stay in the league," says Brenzing.

Last summer, the people from Peiting took sixth place in their group - the gaps in the table were small.

They narrowly lost their last two games 4:5.

Had the TCP won just one of those games, they would have finished the season third.

Men 40 start in Landesliga 1 and want to stay in the league

This season, however, "it's going to be tough," says the sports director, who plays in the team himself.

Two regular players, Christian Huber and Martin Sebralla, are slowed down by injuries.

Whether they can play during the season, which lasts until July 16, is extremely questionable.

So it's a good thing that Matthias Merk is a strong player.

"He's good for us," says Brenzing about Merk, who also plays for his previous club, TC Weilheim.

Kick-off for the national league teams is on the weekend of 13./14.

May.

The teams in the leagues below will already get started this weekend (May 7th/8th).

Due to a structural reform in the Bavarian Tennis Association, there are no longer (playing) districts, but only the regions "Southern Bavaria" (Upper Bavaria, Munich, Lower Bavaria, Swabia) and "Northern Bavaria" (Upper, Middle and Lower Franconia and Upper Palatinate) .

TC Peiting sees the BTV reform as positive

Since this also has an impact on the league division and Peiting is in the border area to the Allgäu, "we meet a lot of clubs from the Swabian district that are new to us," explains Brenzing.

As far as the length of the journey to away games is concerned, that is “definitely an advantage for us”.

In addition, it is "exciting" to compete with other teams than the ones you are used to.

The first men's team - in the Südliga 2 (i.e. the second highest class) at the start - almost only plays against teams from the former district of Swabia.

An exception is the duel with TC Schongau.

The derby starts right away on the first day of the game: on Sunday, May 8th, 10 a.m., Peitingen are expecting their neighbors.

The first women's team from Peitinger starts as a syndicate with TSV Altenstadt.

The team meets in the southern league 3 (there are a total of five levels for women) on TC Weilheim, TC Penzberg and TSV Peißenberg.

The start is the home game against TC Bad Bayersoien II on Sunday, May 8th.

Start is at 10 a.m.
