Mick Schumacher missed his first World Championship points in Formula 1 after an accident with Sebastian Vettel. Uncle Ralf Schumacher positioned himself clearly.

Miami – What drama in Miami!

Sebastian Vettel and Mick Schumacher knocked each other out of the race at the inaugural Grand Prix in Florida on a course for points.

Particularly bitter: For Mick it would have been the first points in Formula 1, but buddy Seb of all people prevented a top 10 placement.

Uncle Ralf Schumacher put his finger in the wound after the race.

The ex-driver defended his nephew and saw both drivers as partly to blame.

In his opinion, Vettel had the greatest responsibility.

Co-commentator Ralf Schumacher could hardly believe his eyes on the Sky microphone.

The only two German drivers in Formula 1 shoot each other down and lose their wages.

But what actually happened in the drama between Schumacher and Vettel?

Vettel started to overtake Mick Schumacher at the end of the 53rd lap and was actually almost over.

However, the young Haas driver countered and sat down next to the Aston Martin driver.

However, Schumi junior did not make it to the same level as his opponent and hit Vettel's right side box with his left front wheel.

An unfortunate situation.

At this point, Mick Schumacher and Vettel were in ninth and tenth place with four laps to go.

After the accident, the points were gone, of course.

Vettel parked his battered car in the pits, Mick was the last car to cross the finish line.

There were no penalties from the Formula 1 race management, the stewards decided on a "racing accident".

"Mick has to try it there, but hesitates a little.

He didn't have to do that, it was his corner", Ralf Schumacher analyzed the scene after the end of the race, during the Grand Prix he didn't want to make a clear decision.

But even Vettel should have been more careful (all the rules for Formula 1 at a glance).

"He also has to look in the mirror, Mick can't vanish into thin air," criticized the Sky expert.

It was an "unfavorable situation" overall, said Ralf Schumacher.

“You can say: Of course it was a bit of a racing accident, but Sebastian still has to give way.

But: If he had seen him, he would certainly have given him the space.” After Imola, he was still clearly critical of Mick Schumacher and saw Vettel as a possible role model.

Vettel and Mick Schumacher didn't want to blame each other after the race.

"When I see the pictures, I could have passed him better," admitted Schumacher.

"Of course that sucks for both of us.

I'm sorry for that.

I thought I was ahead in the corner.

When I saw him, it was too late for both of us," explained Vettel.

A conversation between the two was still pending.

For Mick Schumacher it is another experience in the tough Formula 1 circus, from which he now wants to draw the right conclusions.

"We have a good car.

Now we just have to manage not to always end up in such a difficult situation, especially towards the end," said the 23-year-old.

The next chance for the first points is in just under two weeks in Barcelona.
