SV Werder Bremen clearly beat FC Erzgebirge Aue 3-0 in a mixed game, taking a big step towards promotion to the Bundesliga.

The game report of the DeichStube.

Aue – In the end, it was mainly one message that stuck:

SV Werder Bremen

won 3-0 (0-0) at

Erzgebirge Aue

, who had been relegated to the second division , and thus continue to have the very best chances of promotion.

The guests managed to jump to second place, a single point in the home game against Jahn Regensburg (Sunday, May 15, 3.30 p.m.) is still missing to secure the return to the Bundesliga.

But for a long time it wasn't really nice what the Bremen team showed.

On the other hand: promotions are rarely realized by means of a beauty prize.

Just before the game,

Ole Werner

had sharpened his senses: "Everything that happens to our left and right is of no use to us if we don't deliver ourselves," emphasized Werder's head coach on the "Sky" microphone, looking at the competitor's through ball SV Darmstadt, who messed up against Düsseldorf on Friday.

"That's why I'm concentrating on that with my team." And Werner didn't want to leave anything to chance, sending the best possible starting XI onto the pitch.

Defensive boss Ömer Toprak returned from his calf injury, as did centre-back

Milos Veljkovic

and midfielder

Christian Groß

.

Since

Anthony Young

was able to switch back to his regular place on the left, Felix Agu stayed on the bench, as did Ilia Gruev and Nicolai Rapp.

Werder Bremen against Erzgebirge Aue: sloppy and pompous performance in the first half

In the early stages, the view from this position may not have been the best, because some Aue fans had sent purple smoke into the arena.

Nevertheless, the first moment of shock did not take place in complete fog, although many supporters of the green-whites would certainly have liked to look the other way.

After just a few seconds, the ball was already in the Bremen goal because the Werder defense had reacted quite confused to the first attack.

Aues

Dimitrij Nazarov

was ruled offside when the goal was scored

-

lucky for

Werder Bremen

!

There could not have been a clearer sign that Ole Werner's team would not have it easy this afternoon.

And the Saxons tried again and again to put small pinpricks.

The guests gradually gained control of the game, but found it extremely difficult due to a number of ball losses.

Although Werder had a clear advantage in terms of ball possession, the home team initially had the much better duel quota (60:40).

The first good Werder opportunity came after just under 24 minutes, but

Niclas Füllkrug

played a sloppy cross that the completely free-standing

Marvin Ducksch

couldn't even begin to achieve.

And there was even more reason for

Werder Bremen

to get angry : A little later,

Ömer Toprak

's working day was over.

The 32-year-old landed his foot on the pitch a bit roughly when he headed the ball – and that was obviously enough to sneak off the pitch after a short treatment (36').

So

Nicolai Rapp

was allowed to play faster on the six than expected, while Groß went into the back three.

Werder Bremen: Mitchell Weiser of the assets against Erzgebirge Aue

Only a short time later, Romano Schmid had a really big chance to take the lead, but after a wonderful Ducksch pass, the Austrian failed at the keeper (38th).

At the other end,

Jiri Pavlenka

had to make a strong save against Nazarov because Bremen once again lacked any form of defense (41').

No, what the Bremen team offered wasn't really nice.

And at least it was over a little later.

At least for now.

It was 0-0 at the break, during which many Werder fans were astounded and annoyed as to why their team once again failed to provide playful proof that they really wanted to be promoted.

It took almost four minutes after the restart before the mood suddenly changed.

Mitchell Weiser

had sent Leonardo Bittencourt nicely after a corner, and the midfielder then passed the ball precisely to Marco Friedl, who scored from close range to give the lead (49').

Werder gave the goal a little more security, the combination game looked a bit more pleasing thanks to the winged Weiser - which was also due to the fact that the Saxons were no longer disruptive as energetically.

They only intervened shortly before their own goal and did their job quite well.

A long-range shot by Friedl (67') was

SV Werder Bremen 's most dangerous move for a long time

after the 1:0, a little later Füllkrug easily deflected slightly deflected after the preparatory work by Weiser (72nd).

Aue only occasionally appeared offensively, but then often failed due to his own inadequacy.

A different, a better opponent would probably have caused a lot more danger.

Werder Bremen against Erzgebirge Aue: Niclas Füllkrug increases, Niklas Schmidt puts the lid on it

Fifteen minutes before the end, football then took a back seat for a very short time.

Auer's

Prince Owusu

and

Dirk Carlson

clashed on a header in midfield, both being treated for minutes by medical teams from both clubs.

Owusu got back up relatively quickly, but initially disappeared into the dressing room with his jersey smeared with blood.

Carlson had to be stretchered off the field, but still stretched his arms in the air, badly battered.

Since the hosts had already exhausted their quota of changes, they were outnumbered for a short time before Owusu came back on the field with a fresh shirt.

The break of several minutes made

Werder Bremen

falter a little, but suddenly Auer became more conspicuous again.

So there was still a little trembling before

Niclas Füllkrug

finally made everything clear during the eight-minute stoppage time by scoring the 2-0 with a deflected shot (90+2).

And it got even better: Substitute

Niklas Schmidt

even scored to make it 3-0 (90+6).

Werder had taken the first of two big steps towards

promotion

.

The second will follow in a week.

If necessary also without shine.

UPDATE LIVE TICKER

>>>

3:28 p.m.: And that was it!

Werder Bremen wins 3-0 in Aue and puts themselves in position for a match point next Sunday against Regensburg!

After a goalless but superior first half, it was Friedl, Füllkrug and Schmidt who deservedly conceded three goals to harmless Auer in their last second division home game for the time being.

We say goodbye until next week, take care!

90.+7:

Dinkci has the ball on the baseline and puts it on the jug.

He spins, could lock himself, but puts it down again to Schmidt, who only needs to push in.

The Werder fans celebrate, that's it!

90.+6: TOOOOOR for Werder!

This time it is Schmidt who scores.

It becomes clear!

90. + 5:

Before Dinkci and Gruev come on for Ducksch and Bittencourt, Aue still has a hesitant goal approach via a ball sharply drawn from the left in front of the goal.

90 + 3:

filling jug is played in front of the penalty area.

The situation doesn't look dangerous, but he creates some space with a body trick or two and then just pulls away.

Klewin flies in vain, he fits right in on the left!

90.+2: GOOOOOOOOOOR for Werder!

The hitherto unfortunate filling jug probably makes everything clear!

90 minutes: There is an additional eight minutes!

88 min:

Werder counters after a corner from Auer via Schmidt.

Previously, Hochscheidt hadn't been able to get the ball past Pavlenka into the goal from a tight angle.

Schmidt drives the ball after Werder have cleared the corner, could put it on the right to Ducksch, who is completely free, but waits a very, very, very long time and can then only tip the ball with his toes.

Before Ducksch gets the ball, Aue clarifies.

Can you play it better?

87 min:

Too bad!

A nice Werder attack down the right flank and through the now strong Weiser finds his team-mates in the penalty area, but they can't do anything with it.

86 min:

Aues Kühn starts to solo in front of the Werder penalty area, but doesn't get in the final position and then plays the ball out of goal.

Werder Bremen against FC Erzgebirge Aue in the live ticker: two lacerations at Aue – injury interruption

85 min:

Good for Aue: Owusu was stapled together, gets a new jersey and re-enters the pitch with the permission of referee Brand.

So not a minority for the hosts.

82 min:

The game continues, but there will definitely be five or six minutes of stoppage time.

Get well soon to the two Auer from this point!

81 min:

That's how it is.

Carlson is put on the stretcher, he too has a laceration.

But he puts his thumb up.

Barylla comes for him.

78 min:

Carlson is still being treated.

Meanwhile, Werder used the break to make a change: Schmid goes, Schmidt comes.

Owusu has meanwhile disappeared into the cabin.

If he doesn't step on the pitch again, Aue will probably have to play the last few minutes outnumbered because Aue can only make one substitution and Carlson, we've decided, won't play a minute today.

77 min:

Weiser is back, but things are looking bad for Carlson.

Werder's medical department helps out with him.

Owosu is also standing again, but his white jersey is covered in blood and he has a thick bandage on his head.

Let's see how things go from here.

At Carlson's, the paramedics are waiting with the stretcher.

75 min:

Ouch!

Weiser, Owusu and Carlson rise for a header and collide.

All three are treated.

73 min:

Double change for the host.

Nazarov and Jonjic make way for Hochscheidt and Trujic.

72 min:

Weiser tunnels two opponents and puts it down on Füllkrug, whose deflected shot rolls past the goal on the left.

69 min:

Füllkrug is used on the right in the penalty area, but does not get through with his cross.

On the contrary: The rebound falls unhappily in front of his feet, so there is a push-off.

67 min:

Friedl is in the mood.

He simply pulls flat from 30 meters and only misses the box by a hair.

65 min:

First Pavlenka fists the ball out of the penalty area, then he grabs Jonjic's shot from the second row and holds it securely.

64 min:

The game calmed down a lot after Werder scored.

Bremen are still the more active team with more effort towards goal, but it won't be that dangerous.

But now a corner on the other side for Aue.

60 min:

Bittencourt suddenly appears on the left in the sixteen, but then takes too much time deciding whether to shoot or play and is then expired.

The Werder fans demand penalties, but even the allegedly fouled one doesn't complain, so it must have been nothing.

59 min:

Weiser gets a cross from the left in front of the goal on his head, but heads a good way past the long corner.

57 minutes:

Aue changes.

Baumgart leaves the field, which Majetschak has not entered in the past two minutes due to injury.

Instead, Kühn and Cacutalua are now playing.

Werder Bremen against FC Erzgebirge Aue in the live ticker: Goal for Werder, Marco Friedl scores after the restart!

52 min:

Werder increases its gap to the competition to three points, even the championship would be possible again with a win in the last game against Regensburg, but more importantly: Bremen are only missing a single point to get promoted again!

50 min:

And this is how it happened: Bittencourt plays a simple one-two with Weiser after a corner, then has plenty of space to move into the penalty area and brings the ball sharply close to the goal.

There Friedl breaks away from his opponent in the crowd and holds out the slipper.

The ball rushes between Klewin's legs and into the goal, right in front of the Werder fans who go nuts!

49 min: TOOOOOOOOOR for Werder!

There it is 1:0, Friedl did it!

48 min:

Confidently defended away - and then the counterattack rolls!

Weiser drives the ball, but before he can use Ducksch, he's caught by Jonjic.

The foul is tactical and results in yellow.

47 min:

After a minute there is a corner kick for Aue.

46 min: That's it!

Brand releases the second round!

2:34 p.m .:

So, the half-time break is coming to an end.

The teams are returning to the pitch, it's about to continue!

2:20 p.m .:

It’s not a good football game.

Not from Werder, but even less from Aue.

After the shock moment with Auer's goal in the first minute, which was correctly ruled out for offside, the hosts did not develop a great goal threat, except for a shot by Nazarov in the 41st minute.

Werder has the game largely under control, but is still too uncreative to impose chances on the designated relegated team.

Nevertheless, Ducksch, Füllkrug and Schmid should have scored here, but both sides are still zero.

We're looking forward to the second half.

2:18 p.m.: Two minutes of poor events.

Referee Brand asks for a tea break.

45 min:

There are two minutes of extra time for this first half.

44 min:

Bittencourt sees the yellow box after a foul.

43 min:

The next good neither attack on the right.

Füllkrug runs into the penalty area with the ball and pulls the ball sharply to the left.

Rapp wants to put it down, but again there is no buyer.

41 min:

Now Pavlenka has to show his skills!

A sharp cross from the right by Zolinski is deflected by Rapp in front of Nazarov's feet.

The latter takes aim from a half-left position and aims for the far post, but Pavlenka flies and wins.

The following corner brings nothing.

38 min: Ducksch sees a small gap and serves Schmid, who is suddenly free in front of Klewin and tries to put the ball past the Auer goalkeeper with his left toe, but Klewin fends it off with a foot defence.

Big chance, great pass from Ducksch!

Werder Bremen against FC Erzgebirge Aue in the live ticker: Substitution – workday ended for injured Ömer Toprak

36 min:

That's how it is.

Rapp comes, Toprak disappears into the cabins.

35 min:

Toprak was treated here after a running duel in the last few minutes.

Now it's clear: the captain can't go any further.

Rapp is ready on the sidelines.

33 min:

Werder has so far remained harmless of their own accord.

So far, danger has only come onto the pitch via Auer's mistakes.

31 min:

Friedl conquers a ball with a tackle and brings the ball to Schmid.

The linesman's flag goes up, offside.

29 min:

Inaccuracies creep into Bremen's game.

Friedl unchallenged plays a long ball right into the side, unattainable for Weiser.

26 min:

A series of three corner balls in a row for Werder does not have the hoped-for result.

Aue's defense is solid and clears every time.

24 min: That must be 1-0 for Werder!

Füllkrug gets the ball in the front row and only has to put it across to Ducksch.

He does too, but the cross is a bit too sharp, so Ducksch doesn't reach the ball.

21 min:

All good things come in threes: Zolinski tries from the second row, again Pavlenka without any trouble.

That's enough now.

20 min:

Fandrich with the second degree from the second row.

The shot misses to the right.

The Bremen team had not previously found access.

18 min:

First embarrassment from Aue.

Jonjic's low shot from the second row doesn't pose much of a problem for Pavlenka.

Werder Bremen against FC Erzgebirge Aue in the live ticker: Werder has the game under control, but is struggling up front

17 min:

Werder have now taken control here and let the ball and opponents run.

Ball losses are quickly repaired together.

14 min:

Yellow card for Aues Carlson.

The Luxembourger follows a ball and hits Schmid on the ankle.

The teammates of the person who was hit are discussing, they probably want to have seen a foul suspected of being red.

But that will be different, yellow is ok.

The Aue fans show what they think of it with songs.

13 min:

Weiser is sent to the baseline and lifts the ball from there to the penalty spot.

Ducksch runs into position but misses the ball.

Missed the chance.

12 min:

The first Werder shot on goal comes from Füllkrug, who gets the ball on the sixteen, turns inwards and finishes with the left.

Klewin parried.

11 min:

Füllkrug gets the ball on the right and dribbles into the penalty area.

He plays the ball sharply inside, but finds no green-white buyers.

8 min:

Zolinski crosses from the right to the penalty spot on Owosu's head, but Pavlenka rushes out of his box and plucks the ball down safely.

6. Min:

Long ball from Groß behind the defensive line on Ducksch.

Aue keeper Klewin slips when running out, Ducksch tries to lift it – but the ball is set so high that it probably only touches solid ground again in Wilhelmshaven.

Werder Bremen vs. FC Erzgebirge Aue in the live ticker: The game in Aue is running – almost a blow to Werder!

2 min:

Previously, Toprak had lost the duel against Owosu, who puts the ball down.

The shot from the second row then lands on the feet of Nazarov in the forbidden zone at the six-yard box, who lays it out for Baumgart.

Baumgart not offside, but Nazarov never ever passive, the decision is correct.

phew!

1.Min: The ball is in the Werder goal, but the goal probably doesn't count!

An offside position, which it may well have been, but it will be checked.

1. Min: The view clears up, fire releases the game!

1:30 p.m .:

The smoke settles over the field, so referee Benjamin Brand waits a little longer before approving the game.

1:29 p.m .:

While the Steiger song is playing in the background, the Toprak and Nazarov teams are led onto the field.

The Auer ranks fill with purple smoke, they want to say goodbye here with a small show in the last second division home game for the time being.

1:28 p.m.:

... and here they come!

1:26 p.m .:

The teams have retired to the cabins, the fans are in the mood, we are in the mood.

The game can start!

1:17 p.m .:

Clemens Fritz, head of scouting and professional football at SV Werder, says on the Sky microphone that the 2: 3 against Kiel has been worked up and the team has dealt with it very self-critically and you can continue to appear with a broad chest.

1:15 p.m .:

The Erzgebirge is not firmly in Bremen’s hands today, as only about 1800 cards went to the Weser.

Nevertheless, there are likely to be around 3,000 Werder fans who will gather in the Erzgebirge Stadium.

The stadium was only inaugurated a few years ago and impresses above all with its fantastic location, directly on the slopes of the Ore Mountains.

1.10 p.m .:

Werder trainer Ole Werner is on the sky microphone.

He says he didn't follow the game against Darmstadt: "Don't look left, don't look right.

We have to do our jobs.

Everything else doesn't matter if we do it." The start before today's game was to be well prepared, because the goal is clear: "We want to win the game." He says to the returnees: "It's good that the boys are back, even if the others have taken it well."

1:04 p.m .:

Today’s game is given a slightly special touch by the special jersey that the Werder team will wear today.

It is decorated with several images of fan tattoos.

Let's hope it brings good luck.

12:58 p.m .: Promotion

is a good keyword, because FC Schalke has had it in its pocket since last night.

Despite being 2-0 down against FC St. Pauli, Michael Büskens' team won their home game 3-2, put St. Pauli in the position of an absolute outsider with no real chances and returned to the Bundesliga after a year's absence .

Congratulations from Bremen!

12.55 p.m .:

A look at Werder: The Werner team “only” scored nine points from the past seven games.

Aue can only dream of that, but it's a bit too little for the promotion ambitions of our green and white team.

So it will definitely remain exciting until the coming weekend, and Werder can also put themselves in a brilliant starting position with a win today before the last matchday and still have everything in their own hands.

That would also be the case with a simple point win, which would flush Werder into second place, but then requires a win on the last matchday to be sure of promotion again.

12:53 p.m .:

As already mentioned: Aue has officially been relegated since the violent 0: 6 smack last weekend.

The team only got four points from the last six games, which is not enough for a rescue even through relegation.

After five years in the 2nd Bundesliga, Aue has to return to the third division.

12.46 p.m .:

We look at the joint statistics of both teams: So far there are only two games in the history books.

Logically, there has already been a first leg in which Werder won 4-0 - it was the first game under Ole Werner's creative direction and the start of a run of seven consecutive wins.

Goal scorers at that time were Schmid, Veljkovic by dream goal, Ducksch and Füllkrug.

Werder gave their business card in the Ergebirge in 2008, when SV Werder – with Wiese, Naldo, Baumann, Özil, Diego and Pizarro among others – won by a narrow 2-1 in the second round of the DFB Cup.

Goal scorers then: Pizarro and Rosenberg.

So the record is still flawless.

SV Werder Bremen gegen FC Erzgebirge Aue: Hoher Sieg?

Despite all the ambition, anticipation and determination of

SV Werder Bremen

- unlike his striker Niclas Füllkrug, Werner did not

demand the best possible win against

Erzgebirge Aue .

"We should keep our foot on the gas throughout the game, of course, but we don't talk beforehand about how many goals we're going to score, when, how and where." (dco) Have you read it?
