National ice hockey coach Toni Söderholm may want to call on additional reinforcements from North America for the World Championships in Finland from May 13th to 29th.
Villingen-Schwenningen - "There is still the possibility of waiting for players.
We're interested in all German players who are still playing," said the 44-year-old after the 3-1 win in the final World Cup friendly against Austria in Schwenningen.
The German Ice Hockey Federation wants to announce the World Cup squad on Monday.
Then it should also be clear which players from champion Eisbären Berlin and vice champion EHC Red Bull Munich will join the team before leaving for Finland.
However, Söderholm can also catch up players during the World Cup if he does not officially register all possible 25 players.
The Finnish coach named Leon Gawanke as a possible candidate.
The AHL defenseman is still tied but lost two games in the playoffs with his team Manitoba Moose.
NHL top star Leon Draisaitl has big plans with the Edmonton Oilers, Nico Sturm is playing for NHL title favorite Colorado Avalanche.
