After the derby defeat in Vaterstetten, the handball players of TSV Grafing lost their lead in the regional league for the time being.

Vaterstetten/Grafing

– The handball players of TSV Vaterstetten have created new excitement in the district league.

The team around coach Tom Eck defeated leader TSV Grafing after a hard-fought game with 27:21 (13:12) goals and is now only one minus point behind the people from Bärenstadt.

"It was a real derby," enthused Grafing's player and head of department, Thomas Ernst, about the thrilling 60 minutes.

"Very heated, very combative, but unfortunately with an unfortunate end for us." The people of Vaterstetten deserved to win "because we made it too easy for them".

Grafing affords too many easy ball losses

In the first half, his team alone would have made ten easy turnovers.

Four or five counter goals were the result.

"That was very stupid," Ernst said, shaking his head.

As a result, TSVV pulled away by up to 12:7 (21st/Johannes Kiefl).

A red card for Roman Recknagel (29th), who caught his opponent from behind in the neck when the score was 13:10 and knocked him down, decimated the hosts, who briefly lost the thread.

By the break, Grafing was close to a goal again after goals from Ernst and Thomas Grünwald.

But the guests also had to accept a setback by disqualification in the 34th minute.

Maximilian Skladanowski placed his hand where it shouldn't be in a defensive action - in an opponent's face.

"You can also give the red card," said Ernst.

"But that weakened our defense."

Ultimately, the ex-leader - neighbor TSV EBE Forst United passed Grafing after a 29:26 in Anzing due to two more games played - lost the derby not in defense, but in attack.

"We weren't too dangerous overall," Ernst put his finger in the wound.

Lukas Kröger kept the guests within striking distance with his goals on the outside.

Only from the 23:21 (52 nd ) did the home side gradually pull away to 27:21.

"Vaterstetten finished the derby well," the Grafinger handball manager congratulated the TSVV, who in turn collected two important points, especially for staying up in the league.
