Third division football team 1. FC Kaiserslautern parted ways with head coach Marco Antwerpen and assistant coach Frank Döpper a week before the first relegation game against Dynamo Dresden.
Kaiserslautern - Dirk Schuster will be the successor, who should already be on the bench against the Saxons on May 20th and 24th, as the Palatinate announced.
Those responsible for the four-time German champions came to this decision after an intensive analysis of the current situation, it said.
Sport1 and the "Rheinpfalz" had previously reported on the separation.

Schuster is said to be in charge of his first unit at FCK on May 11th.
Assistant coach Sascha Franz will come to Betzenberg with the 54-year-old.
Kaiserslautern did not provide any information about the contract terms of Schuster and Franz.
Rumors about the employment of 2014 world champion Miroslav Klose have been settled for the time being.
Antwerp had led FCK to third place in the 3rd division, but recently suffered three defeats.
