Roland-Garros: Tsonga and Simon invited by the tournament for their last ball

The French Tennis Federation (FFT) communicated on Tuesday the names of the six players and six French players invited to the Paris tournament.


Gilles Moretton, the president of the FFT, and Amélie Mauresmo, the tournament director, on the proposal of the National Technical Director (DTN), Nicolas Escudé, made public the invitations (or "wild cards") allocated for the final table of singles ladies and gentlemen (May 22 - June 5), as well as for the qualifications (May 16 - 20) of the 2022 edition of the Parisian Grand Slam.

Six French players and six French players, whose classification did not allow direct access to the main draw, are the beneficiaries of these invitations.

It should be noted that the four wild cards allocated (2 + 2) within the framework of the agreements which bind the FFT to the Australian (Tennis Australia) and American (USTA) tennis federations will be communicated later.

For the ladies' table, Harmony Tan (24 years old, 115th) and Léolia Jeanjean (26 years old, 223rd) went to seek their place by finishing first Frenchwoman respectively of the International Circuit and the French Circuit.

The other sesames go to Chloé Paquet (27 years old, 101st), Fiona Ferro (25 years old, 139th), Tessah Andrianjafitrimo (23 years old, 144th) and Elsa Jacquemod (19 years old, 229th).

For men, two invitations have been reserved as expected for Jo-Wilfried Tsonga and Gilles Simon, who are both playing their last Roland-Garros this month.

Tsonga (37 years old, 263rd) will hang up the racket as soon as he is eliminated Porte d'Auteuil.

As for Simon (37, 160th), he said he wanted to end his career at the end of the season.

The two former Musketeers are joined by Manuel Guinard (26 years old, 158th) and Grégoire Barrère (28 years old, 210th), the first Frenchman respectively on the International Circuit and the National Circuit.

Finally, the FFT, faithful to its traditions, wanted to give a boost to Corentin Moutet (23 years old, 126th) and Lucas Pouille (28 years old, 165th).

In addition, nine French women have been invited to the qualifying table which begins on Monday: Audrey Albie, Océane Babel, Loïs Boisson, Emeline Dartron, Salma Djoubr, Selena Janicijevic, Carole Monnet, Lucie Nguyen Tan and Alice Ramé.

As well as nine boys: Arthur Cazaux, Sean Cuenin, Gabriel Debru, Arthur Fils, Evan Furness, Sasha Gueymard Wayenburg, Laurent Lokoli, Clément Tabur and Luca Van Assche.
