Amit Simhon sniped 41 points, including nine threes, last night (Monday) in his biggest game of his career, when he marched Hapoel Haifa to an away win over Maccabi Tel Aviv, 114: 123 at the end of a double overtime.

Behind this rare evening are quite a few records and landmarks.

• 41 points is a season-high in the Premier League.

  In the previous record, Adam Smith from Hapoel Holon and Barion Allen from Hapoel Eilat held, with 38.

• 41 points is a personal career record for Simhon.

  He set his previous record, 29, when he played in Eilat in 2018.

• When was the last time an Israeli player scored so much in the Premier League: recently, to be honest.

  Max Heidegger from Bnei Herzliya reached 43 last season.

• And if you take citizens out of the equation, and focus on players who were born in Israel and / or grew up in Israeli basketball, a much more interesting answer is obtained: such a dose of points was last recorded 29 years ago, when Amir Katz bombed 48 points in the 1993 Bnei Herzliya uniform.

• Simhon's 3 threes are only one shot away from the all-time high in Israel.

  Doron Jamchi set him up twice in the Maccabi Tel Aviv uniform: in 1986 in the regular league against Hapoel Ramat Gan (unknown from several attempts) and in 1990 in the playoff final against Hapoel Galil Elyon (from 14 shots).

  32 years have passed, and no one will repeat the achievement.

• The last Israeli to score 9 threes in a league game was Amit Gershon, when he played for Hapoel Beer Sheva in 2019.

• The 9 threes are, of course, another Simhon career high.

  Previous record: 7 out of 10 in the uniform of the city rival, Maccabi Haifa, in 2017.

• This is the 22nd time in his career that Simhon has scored at least 5 threes in a league or playoff game in Israel.

• Simchon already has a place of honor in the history books: he has scored 526 threes in the Premier League to date, and is ranked third all-time.

• It was her second ever foreign victory over Maccabi Tel Aviv, and the first at Yad Eliyahu.

  The previous victory was recorded 53 years ago, in 1969 at the old Maccabi stadium (69:74).

  The champion that season was Hapoel Tel Aviv.
