London Mayor Sadiq Khan has revealed he is in talks with the International Olympic Committee (IOC) to return the Games to the capital in 2036 or 2040

Got an appetite.

The mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, revealed today (Tuesday) that he is in talks with the International Olympic Committee (IOC) about returning the Games to the capital in 2036 or 2040. Khan admitted that the city is working on plans for London to host the Olympics for the fourth time. This is in 1908, 1948 and 2012, when most of the facilities from the last games in the city will be used.

The mayor said: "We have the facilities in London so the cost will not be huge and we could have the greenest Olympics ever. We are working on the preliminary plans and we are already talking to the IOC."

The IOC itself declined to confirm what talks took place.

An IOC spokesman said: "Any contact with an interested party from any city will remain confidential."

The next Olympics will be held in Paris in 2024, followed by Los Angeles in 2028.

Brisbane was announced as the host of the 2032 Games last summer.

The host city for the 2036 edition will be announced between 2025 and 2029.

India, the largest country that has never hosted the Olympics, has confirmed that it is considering a bid for 2036. Egypt, Turkey and Russia have also been tied to the bid.
