The league's commissioner, Adam Silver, paid tribute to the former chin: "Bob Lanir was a Hall of Fame player and one of the most talented chins in NBA history, but his impact on the league was far beyond what he achieved on the field. I learned so much from Bob, he was a close friend of his. I will miss him very much. We send our deepest condolences to his family and friends. "
