Clément Turpin will be the sixth Frenchman to lead the final of the Coupe aux Grandes Oreilles after Robert Héliès (1972), Michel Kitabdjian (1975), Robert Wurtz (1977), Georges Konrath (1982) and Michel Vautrot (1986).

He will be present on May 28 with his usual staff, made up of assistant referees, Nicolas Danos and Cyril Gringore.

Benoît Bastien will be the 4th referee while Jérôme Brisard will be in charge of the VAR, as will Willy Delajod who will assist him with two Italian referents.

For Clément Turpin, a year after having refereed the Europa League final between Manchester United and Villarreal, won by the Spaniards on penalties, it is a new step taken.

At 39, the Burgundian continues his ascent.

He, who was the youngest referee in Ligue 1 for a long time in 2008 when he was only 26 years old.

“A thought for the 22,000 French referees”

"I feel very proud, especially since the final will be played in France," Turpin told the French Football Federation website.

This appointment is the result of a long-term effort.

Today, I have a real thought for the 22,000 French referees.

To represent the French colors, in addition to Turpin, who will tread the lawn of the Stade de France on May 28, we will normally find on the Liverpool side, Ibrahima Konaté, and on the Real Madrid side, the essential Karim Benzema on his way to his first Ballon d'Or and probably Ferland Mendy and Eduardo Camavinga.

A nice consolation prize for French football which could not place one of its three representatives (Lille, PSG and Monaco), present on the starting line at the start of the event, in the final.
