Syrian basketball fans are looking forward to the “Final Four” competitions for the first-class men’s and women’s club championships, which will start in the middle of this month with changes that are the first of its kind, specifically in terms of contracts.

In the men’s category, the Al-Wahda, Al-Karama, Al-Ittihad and Al-Jalaa teams participate, while the Tishreen, Qasioun, Al-Thawra, and Al-Wehda teams compete in the women’s category. The women in the semi-finals, home and away, and the winner of the total of the two matches qualifies for the final round, and in the event of a tie, a play-off will be resorted to.

As for the new look in which the league competition will appear from the gate of the final round, it is the presence of a foreign player and an Arab player with the participating teams, in addition to an external arbitration staff, so it is expected that the finals will witness strong competitions to reach the title in both categories.

With the Federation of the Game’s announcement to allow contracting with foreign and Arab players, the clubs rushed to sign players to strengthen their ranks before entering the final round, as the unit included the Tunisians Omar Abada and Mohamed Hadidan and the American professional Alia Mazik, while Al Karama signed the Algerian Touhami Ghizol and the American professional Roderick Camphor, as well as the Algerian Federation Mohamed Harrat. And the American Antoine Scott, and Tishreen contracted with the Ukrainian Darina Mironenko. As for the Al-Thawra club, it joined the Tunisian Salma Manasiriya, and a number of players joined their teams, and others are waiting for the arrival of their players during the next two days.

The semi-finals of the women's category will start on the sixteenth of this month with the Tishreen meeting with Qasioun, while the competitions for the same round in the men's category will open on the eighteenth with the meeting of Al-Wehda with Al-Karama.
