Immediately after the third championship at Hapoel Beer Sheva, Barak Bachar was on the roof of the world.

A club that did not taste 40 years before the championship suddenly celebrated three consecutive years with a great achievement, and it seemed that there was no one to stop Beer Sheva.

At the same time, the talk around Bachar was that the coach had exhausted himself, that maybe he should look for another challenge because in Be'er Sheva he had already achieved almost everything.

Bachar then held on to a contract and went on to a fourth season, but what turns out today is that his choice to stay was despite a particularly tempting opportunity.

Immediately after that championship, rumors began from Ghent.

The Belgian top team wanted to see the young coach come from Israel to lead her to achievements as well.

"There have indeed been inquiries and even more so from Ghent," the source admitted this week, "but Bachar decided it was not the right time."

The reference to "the right time" was not for family reasons or a lack of faith in his ability to succeed abroad, but mainly concerned the coach's desire to achieve further with Be'er Sheva: "Barak thought he could reach the Champions League with the team and therefore did not leave."

Four years have passed, and Becher, who parted ways with Hapoel Beer Sheva during the fourth season, does not regret the same decision, especially in light of the tremendous success at Maccabi Haifa - the team he supported as a child and now marched to a second championship in a row.

Many parallel lines between the championships in Be'er Sheva and those in green, which only increases the feeling that with all due respect to Anthony Wakma, Maor Melikson and the others, and Charon Sherry, Noble Omar and the Greens - the architect of the five most successful coaches of the last decade is mostly Bachar himself.

The coach came to the current season after landing the plate in Carmel after ten years of parking.

Last summer there were still days of heart palpitations for Maccabi Haifa fans, when there seemed to be gaps between the club's leaders and Bachar, but in the end it was owner Yaakov Shachar and right-hand man Uzi Moore who decided to get involved and close with Bachar for another season.

"It was clear that one should not even think about a situation where Barak will not be in the team," says a source at the club.

"It's true that there was some talk in the summer, but everyone knew that Yankele would not let it happen and that Barak would stay at the club."

After the signing, Bachar began rapid construction of the team.

Just like Be'er Sheva, after the revolution of the first season, Bachar strengthens the skeleton with senior players.

"Barak's method is to build a staff in stages," explains a source at the club.

"The intention is to place a very strong skeleton and around it every season to strengthen a little more in certain positions."

This season it was Ali Muhammad, Uri Dahan and Din David who were supposed to be the significant reinforcement for last season.

While Dahan found himself out of the roster at most stages of the season, David and Muhammad turned out to be bingo and significantly upgraded the Greens.

Quite a few similarities.

If you are looking for more similarities between the coach's period in Be'er Sheva and the current one in Haifa, then you can find it well in the championship style.

In the first season in Be'er Sheva, Bachar started the season in a jerky way, just like last season in Haifa, and then the team that rose reached the round before the last when a victory gives it a championship, but in both cases Bachar stumbled because of a goal in extra time.

With Beer Sheva against Maccabi Haifa, when Eyal Mashomer's goal moved the decision to the last round at Turner, then he defeated Sakhnin and won a historic championship, and with Maccabi Haifa it happened 1: 1 in Kiryat Shmona, when Mike Amanga equalized in extra time and sent the Greens to complete the The task of the championship at home in the final round against Beer Sheva.

The reception can also be found in the second season.

Be'er Sheva then recorded a glorious campaign in Europe, similar to Maccabi Haifa, which returned this season after many years to the European home stage.

In the local sector, Be'er Sheva of that season recorded ups and downs when at times it was unstoppable, just as happened to Becher this season.

"Barak is not a routine coach, he likes to change and he likes to dare," states a source in Haifa.

"Obviously if you are constantly renewing and constantly challenging your rivalry and yourself there are also mistakes along the way, but that's the magic secret of Barak's."

The following goals: Double and entry to the Champions League.

Bachar's current championship is his fifth and places him in second place at all times along with Moshe Polyakov (won with Hapoel Tel Aviv but before the establishment of the state) and is only one championship away from Dror Kashtan and Dovid Schweizer who hold six championships each.

And he is not yet 43.

If Bachar is looking for another achievement, then not only his past and present trainees, Noble Omar and Mahran Rady, can boast a championship streak in two different teams.

Bachar is the first coach ever to make a winning streak in two teams.

"Today there are no more question marks," states a very senior player at Maccabi Haifa.

"Barak is one of the greatest coaches in history and we have many more things to do together."

With the following goals in mind, the intention is not only to qualify for the home stage of the Champions League, but also for the Cup final in two and a half weeks.

Bachar will be able to record the first double of his career and lead Maccabi Haifa to the second double in its history.

The coach has already extended his contract, even though he knew that offers from abroad would come after another championship. "When Barak is good in a certain place, he stays," his entourage explains. .
