VW boss Herbert Diess announces German drivers in the new Formula 1 teams Audi and Porsche.

We introduce you to some candidates.

Wolfsburg – VW boss Herbert Diess has unpacked!

Audi and Porsche are about to enter Formula 1 in 2026. The Formula 1 rules will be adjusted this season, which will make it easier to get started.

But which drivers will be chasing points for the new teams?

"I'm assuming that we will certainly try to employ German drivers in our two teams," indicated Diess.

Vettel and Schumacher: German Formula 1 stars without a future?

Haas driver Mick Schumacher collided with Sebastian Vettel in Miami.

Uncle Ralf Schumacher has a clear opinion on the incident.

Schumacher remains without a point, while teammate Kevin Magnussen has already collected 15 points.

Although his shape curve is slightly upwards overall, the pressure is still increasing.

Whether the Formula 1 legend at the age of 40 still plays a role in the future plans of Audi and Porsche can be questioned.

Nico Hulkenberg has ten seasons in Formula 1 behind him.

The man from Emmerich also stepped in as a backup driver for Vettel in Bahrain in February.

His Porsche past with

victory in 2015 could play into his hands.

However, Hülkenberg was born in the same year as Vettel, and time is running out for him too.

Pascal Wehrlein, on the other hand, is a few years younger at 31.

Wehrlein drove in Formula 1 for two years, but had no chance of being competitive in the Manor and Sauber.

In February, the Swabian from Upper Swabia won his first Formula E race in a Porsche. After four races in the 2021/2022 season, Wehrlein is in 7th place with 42 World Championship points.

That puts him just one point behind his teammate Andre Lotterer.

Lotterer is already 41 years old and has competed in various racing series.

Given his age, a Formula 1 comeback would be more than sensational.

The man from Duisburg spectacularly retired after two laps of his only Formula 1 race in 2014 at Caterham.

Maximilian Günther and David Schumacher: The future of German motorsport?

Maximilian Günther has only scored four points in the Nissan in the first four races of the current Formula E season.

However, his team-mate, former world champion Sebastien Buemi, only has ten points.

The man from Oberstdorf is only 24 years old and is considered an intelligent racing driver.

Porsche and Audi should watch him closely!

Another shoemaker?

David Schumacher, Mick Schumacher's 20-year-old cousin, is currently trying to recommend himself for Formula 2 through the DTM.

He also helped out in Formula 3 in Imola.
