The decision about Robert Lewandowski's future has apparently been made: As first reported by "Bild" and then "Sport.1" on Thursday evening, the Polish star striker will leave record-breaking soccer champion Bayern Munich by summer 2023 at the latest.
An extension of the contract dated until then is therefore no longer an option for the attacker.
Lewandowski informed the Bayern bosses of his decision last week.
It is apparently unclear when Lewandowski will leave Bayern, for whom he has been playing since 2014.
FC Bayern initially gave no reaction to the reports.
Board member for sport Hasan Salihamidžić had ruled out a premature farewell to the 33-year-old Pole this summer.
"He has a contract until June 30, 2023," he said, adding: "Now we have time to talk about what's after June 30, 2023."
There has now been a first round of talks between the German record champions and Lewandowski's advisor - the result now wants to be known to "Bild".
Lewandowski could go on a free transfer in 2023, and he also came from Borussia Dortmund in 2014 without a transfer.
A possible departure of Lewandowski has been occupying FC Bayern for weeks, he was already a disruptive backdrop to the Champions League defeat against Villarreal (read more here).
There have also been persistent rumors for a long time that Lewandowski wants to leave the club earlier than 2023, it is said that FC Barcelona should be interested in him.
