In a heated promotion round game, the HSG Isar-Loisach defeated the leader SG Kaufbeuren with a 24:19 home win and even took the lead in the promotion round.

Geretsried – The handball players HSG Isar-Loisach can't be stopped by anything and nobody at the moment: On Sunday evening they overthrew the previous leaders SG Kaufbeuren with a 24:19 victory and took over the lead in the district league promotion round.

"I'm exhausted - but happy," said coach Manuel Sauer afterwards.

HSG behind in the early stages

As before, HSG found it difficult to get into the game and was 4:7 behind after 13 minutes.

But then the game tipped over – mainly because the home side showed an almost perfect performance in defense.

Kaufbeuren kept getting stuck.

When the guests got through, goalkeeper Bartosz Przybylak was there - or the throws went wrong.

This is reflected in the statistics: In the 17 minutes until the break, the guests only scored two more goals.

Defense bulwark around Konstantin Seemann

The defensive bulwark was also in the second half.

Konstantin Seemann blocked a series of shots from a distance.

The high success rate is no coincidence, he reveals with a smile: "Kaufbeuren likes to do hip throws, but in Adrian Marcu we have a mega specialist in the team.

He does the hip throws very low, almost above the ankle.” In training, Seemann learned how to avoid these galvanized throws: “Now I know how to block them.”

Nibbles in the closing stages

The HSG didn't really get into trouble anymore, which also had to do with the fact that the guests weakened themselves.

Julian Haggenmüller saw the red card in the 51st minute when he blocked Florian Seemann too roughly in a jump.

Five minutes later, Manuel Reckziegel committed a classic frustration foul when he ran into Philip Teubert from the side – without the slightest chance of winning the ball.

Reckziegel also saw the red card.

The HSG actors did not want to say too much about these two rather useless actions.

"Both players are great," commented Seemann.

"When someone like that makes a foul, it often looks stupid - I know that." Since the referee team whistled very pettily throughout the game, the two suspensions were justified.

The four to six goal lead held up throughout the final stages.

In the end the scoreboard was 24:19.

"Kempten was small, dynamic and fast," analyzed Seemann.

"Kaufbeuren is the exact opposite, physically very strong - and that suits us better."

Manuel Sauer was completely satisfied after the final whistle.

"I'm very proud of the team - they consistently performed well," said the coach.

The defense of both teams was very confident: "You have to create chances first." Sauer was pleased that in the game, which was characterized by defensiveness, different new HSG players were able to enter the scorer list.

He swears: "In the second leg it won't be a walk in the park."

HSG Isar-Loisach/Men:

Przybylak (T), D. Wolfgart 1, Teubert 4 (2/4), Mehrkens, K. Seemann 2 (2/2), Reimann 3, Dinebier (T);

Friedrich, Drees 2, Marcu 2, F. Seemann 1, Neumüller 1, M. Herrmann, Wolfgart 8 (3/4).
