On Sunday the raceless bicycle time is over.

The RSC Elkofen organizes a pair and individual time trial again.

Bruck

– "We're really excited," admits Sonja Haslbeck, chairwoman of RSC Elkofen.

No wonder, since it was the Giro d'Elkofen in 2019 when the RSC last held a race.

And on Sunday, May 15th, what was actually planned for the beginning of 2020 will be made up for: the RSC Elkofen will give the starting signal for a time trial race again.

More than 100 participants have registered.

The active people come to this “Everyman Race” from as far away as Konstanz and Nuremberg.

All cycling enthusiasts and license holders in the amateur class are allowed to start when the fastest individual riders and pairs are determined.

The route is the "old Moosacher Straße".

The start/finish and turning point is at the new commercial area in Taglaching, the route then leads in the direction of Moosach through Taglaching to the turnoff to Baumhau, where there will be another turning point.

Depending on age and ability, the five-kilometre circuit has to be completed two to six times.

"The road is completely closed to traffic during the race," emphasizes RSC chairman Haslbeck.

The volunteer fire brigade will protect the route.

For those interested in cycling, there is the opportunity to “follow the racing events best at the turning points”, as Sonja Haslbeck recommends.

“In Taglaching the drivers just rush through, one after the other.

But at the turning points, something is stirring.

When the drivers arrive at full speed,

Even the appearance of the racers is very special in this discipline, "you don't see that every day".

From the big races like the Tour de France or Giro d'Italia you know it from the television when the pedal knights compete against the clock.

On special time trial bikes - with one or two disc wheels - and the aerodynamic helmets, they look like exotics.

Everything to be particularly aerodynamic and to make up for a second or two on the track.

"We recently had discussions about this," says Haslbeck, when asked how useful this equipment is at the level of performance for amateurs.

"Everyone is trying to figure out what's going on.

I've been told it can bring the equivalent of four watts, and with it maybe the decisive seconds," said the RSC chairman.

One person who builds on this advantage is Andreas Bartmann, head of cycling at RSC Elkofen and local hero.

"He can get involved at the front," Haslbeck is certain.

After two years of racing abstinence, however, it is not important to inspire domestic ambitions.

"Being able to hold an event like this again is just great," enthuses the RSC chairman.
