The Union Cup swimming competition, which was a criterion competition for the upcoming tasks and especially for next month’s World Championships in Budapest, closed tonight (Friday) at the Wingate Institute.

Eight swimmers took their place on the flight to the important competition.

Even without full preparation, European champion Anastasia Gurbanko continues to show how much talent lies within her, and how diverse she is in the various anointings, when she was nine hundredths away from breaking Andy Moraz's record in the 100m freestyle.

The 18-year-old Gorbanko set a time of 55.02 seconds and will now concentrate on the preparations for the big event in Hungary, when the corresponding ointment for men was won by Tomer Frenkel with 49.15 seconds.

The new Israeli champion in the 100 breaststroke, Chris Pitchogen, completed a double with a victory in the 50 breaststroke as well, recording a nice collection of 27.38 seconds in the qualifiers and 27.43 seconds in the final.

In the women in this ointment, the Eisbruch Foundation won with 33.41.

In the women's 200 backstroke, Aviv Barzali won, who had already secured the ticket to the world championships and came close to the Israeli record with 2: 11.46d.

In the men, David Gerchik set an impressive personal record already in the qualifiers of 1: 58.20, only 13 hundredths of the world championship criteria.

Jacob Tomarkin finished second in the final with 2: 00.90 and third was Inbar Danziger, who achieved a criterion for the European Youth Championship.

In the 800 free, Ofek Adir won for the women with 9: 01.69 d and Yoav Romano for the men with 8: 09.89 d.

In 50 butterfly Jessica Spielko won with 27.73 and Marcus Schlesinger with 24.08 s.

As mentioned, at the end of the competition, eight swimmers set the criteria for the world championship in individual anointings: Aviv Barzali, Anastasia Gurbanko, Leah Polonsky, Gal Cohen Gromi, Miron Heruti, Dennis Loktev, Michael Leitrovsky and Tomer Frenkel.

This honorable list will be joined later by additional swimmers to complete the quartet quartets, for which criteria have been set, following the decision of the coaching staff.
