The Auvergnat, who is currently competing in the Tour of Italy, will be a rider for the Dutch team until 2024.

Romain Bardet, who is currently competing in the Giro, of which he remains one of the main outsiders, likes loyalty.

He decided to extend his lease with the Dutch formation DSM which he had joined in 2021 and with which he was under contract until the end of this season.

He will therefore wear the DSM jersey until 2024.

The recent winner of the Tour of the Alps confirmed this Friday morning, at the microphone of Eurosport before the start of the 7th stage of the Giro, the information from the

Velonews

site : he has signed for two additional seasons with the Dutch team, that he had joined in 2021.

“I'm very happy, it was completely natural for me, it's going very well, I found a good level here

(at DSM)

and I like it.

We are only at the start of the plan, I hope

,” said the French rider.

“I am happy to be able to continue the adventure with them.

I am very comfortable with the culture within the team.

Bardet had left his lifelong training, AG2R for DSM where he was looking for a change in working method.

Among the Dutch, the training sessions are defined upstream and according to a very precise racing program.

Accustomed to adding more in his preparation where he was looking for a much too sharp perfectionism, Bardet had understood that, if he had to run for several more seasons and find pleasure in his job, he had to look for a form of novelty.

After a frustrating and then encouraging first season (stage victory in the Tour of Spain), the Auvergnat is finally fulfilled in his new team.

His recent success in the Tour des Alpes, his first victory in a stage race since 2009, attests to this.
