SC Baldham-Vatstetten looks back on two years of the pandemic with good cheer.

But worry lines remain at the club.

Baldham – How well did SC Baldham-Vaterstetten get through the pandemic?

That was the central question at the general meeting of the football department, which was held on April 28, 2022 for the first time since 2020.

The unanimous answer of all those responsible: surprisingly good!

The number of members, which has been falling since 2017, was stopped last year and even reversed - at the beginning of this year the department had 862 members.

And despite falling income, the cash balance increased slightly and the loan for the artificial turf pitch on the B304 continued to be repaid as planned.

Youth leader Kurt Neugebauer reported impressively how the more than 400 players and around 50 trainers of the G to D youth defied the adversities of the pandemic and the associated restrictions with online and small group training.

However, he came to the conclusion: "We can never do that to our children again!" Only now are most of them back to where they were two years ago.

SC Baldham-Vaterstetten: A, B, C juniors are having a harder time

The youth work of the SCBV, on the other hand, is ahead of its time in many areas: from the organization of FUNino festivals with five other clubs to the introduction of a youth representation.

"We are visible right up to the DFB," said youth leader Neugebauer, who in December received the BFV honorary award on behalf of the SCBV youth department.

The balance of the older youth (A, B, C juniors) was a little less euphoric: at least one team was able to start in each year group - partly also through syndicates with Parsdorf and Anzing.

For the new manager of the Großfeld Walter Geck, it is now a question of stabilizing this development and establishing a high-performing team in a higher division in the medium term in each year group.

SC Baldham-Vaterstetten: First men's team probably shortly before relegation

Corona was a particular challenge for girls' football, reported the head of women and girls, Alex Klinger: Despite the lower squad size (sometimes two to three years train together), the SCBV, E, D and B juniors made it as teams to get started.

The women's team in the district league has around 30 players in the squad - in the next season a second women's team is to develop from this as an U19w.

The SCBV department is most worried about the first men's team, which is unlikely to escape relegation.

The only ray of hope: Former Lithuanian international Gediminas Sugzda has signed as head coach independently of the league for a year and a half.

The club is therefore fully confident that the 53-year-old will moderate the inevitable restructuring of the squad.

Talents from men's II and U19s will also increasingly come into focus.

Department head Lämmermeier on the management team of the association: “With a strong management team, very committed trainers and volunteers, we got through the pandemic very well.

The challenges have not diminished, but we are heading in the right direction.

We always bring reinforcements to the team for this purpose.
