The women's team of SG Peiting-Schongau has established itself in the Landesliga Süd and took second place.

However, the team is also plagued by a personnel problem.

Schongau/Peiting – The sports bowlers of the SG Peiting-Schongau didn't want to be so presumptuous as to mourn the possible championship title.

"We are very happy with second place," emphasizes player Helga Lachmann.

The syndicate finished the season in the Landesliga Süd on a par with SKC Unterthingau (10:6 points).

However, in terms of team points (comparable to the goal difference in soccer), the Peiting-Schongau-Allianz was just behind - so the Allgäu team got first place.

5.5:2.5 home win in the last competition of the season

The SG women still had it in their hands to overtake them on the final day of the game.

However, they would have had to win the home fight against KC Pöttmes even higher than they did anyway.

With 5.5:2.5, the hostesses finally decided the duel for themselves.

After the starting pairings it was still 1:1.

Luise Scheppers (523 wood/4:0 sets) clearly won her match against Rita Lutz (438).

Meanwhile, Andrea Lindner (510/1:3) narrowly lost out to Sonja Karmann (514).

The decision was made in the third set: Lindner lost there by a hair's breadth (130:131), the team point was gone.

After all: In the total wood, the SG was already clearly ahead (+81).

SG Peiting-Schongau satisfied with second place

In the middle pairings, Rosi Müller (508/2:2) increased her lead over Gisela Thulke (484).

The duel between Birgit Gerloff and Vanessa Zips ended in a draw: Both won two sets, both came up with 481 wood.

In the final round, Gerloff caught up eleven woods behind.

In the final pairings, Sabine Fichtl (473/1:3) lost to Christine Hammerl (517).

Lachmann (509/2:2) got the important third team point for the SG in an exciting duel with Sabrina Boldt (507).

The larger number of wood (3004:2941) gave the SG two additional points.

The season as a whole was once again shaped by Corona.

Games had to be postponed again and again.

Ultimately, only five teams went through the entire season.

Despite all the difficulties, the SG Peiting-Schongau showed that they rightly belong in the state league.

The team achieved the highest away result of the season in the league (3145 wood) in a 5:3 win over the later champions Unterthingau.

“That was really good,” says Lachmann.

The SG women have been playing in the state league since 2019

The team was promoted to the state league in 2019 - the championship title in the district league was followed by a 7-1 relegation against Wacker Burghausen.

At that time, the team operated solely as Schwarz-Gelb Schongau.

In the following season, the SG started - the women took the penultimate place as a promoted team in the state league (6:26 points).

The team stayed in the league, but the 2020/2021 season ended prematurely due to Corona.

So now the second place jumped out for the SG.

The SG would also like to start in the Landesliga Süd in the coming season.

How the game will then run, whether it will continue with teams of six or possibly with teams of four, is not yet clear.

The Bavarian Sportkegler- und Bowlingverband (BSKV) recently held an internal survey on the subject of "women's gaming operations" - the evaluation is ongoing.

Reason for the survey: The number of all-women teams in Bavaria has been steadily declining for years.

The SG women's team currently consists of seven players - a thin staff cover.

“We need support,” Lachmann clarifies.

The syndicate welcomes interested women of all ages.

"Launchers" who have previously practiced another discipline and now want to try their hand at the precision sport of bowling can also feel addressed.

Training is every Tuesday and Thursday (from 6 p.m.) at the bowling alley in Schongau (Dießener Straße 25/Restaurant Croatia).

Interested players can either come directly to training or leave a message at the Schongau bowling alley.

The SG then reports to the players.
