Helsinki - The German national ice hockey team does not let their heads hang after the 3:5 defeat at the start in Helsinki against defending champions and record world champions Canada.
In the second group game of the World Cup in Finland against the Olympic bronze medalist Slovakia, the boys of coach Toni Söderholm want to build on the strong final third.
"We'll get off the starting blocks better against Slovakia.
If we tweak a few things, we're on the right track," says NHL youngster Moritz Seider.
The team analyzed the game “critically”.
Especially at the end there were a lot of positives, says the 21-year-old Seider.
"In the last third we stepped on the gas again and we'll take that into the next game," emphasizes goalie Philipp Grubauer, who made a good game and made several strong saves.
Seider had scored the third goal for the DEB team with a double advantage and gave hope for a moment.
He also prepared the two goals from Marc Michaelis (28th) and Matthias Plachta (42nd), also in double the majority.

"We conceded two goals when we were outnumbered, so we must and will improve," says coach Söderholm.
But he is positive about the game against the Slovaks: "The last third gave us a push." The DEB team also needs this push for the upcoming game in order to take revenge on the opponent for the crashing Olympic exit in February.
In Beijing, Germany, who had traveled there with gold ambitions, missed the round of eight with a 4-0 loss to Slovakia.
