Greiner, 31, a Phoenix Mercury star who played in Yekaterinburg during the WNBA break, has been held in Russia for about three months since being arrested at a Moscow airport because customs officials found cannabis oil in her personal bag.
Last week it was reported in the United States that the US administration had defined the basketball player as illegally detained by the Russian authorities, and even appointed an expert on international hostage negotiations to direct contacts for her return to her homeland.
Now, as reported above, Russia will try to promote a deal that would bring back Victor Bot, who was nicknamed the "death trader" and was arrested in Thailand in 2008 before being extradited to the United States, where he was convicted of smuggling weapons to Colombian rebels against US citizens.
In 2012, a bot who was tried in New York was sentenced to 25 years in prison.
