Cristiano Ronaldo says Manchester United's new manager Eric Tan will need time to change the club's situation, making it clear that "things need to change as he pleases".
In the first remarks about the current Ajax coach since being officially appointed by United last month on a three-year contract starting this summer, Ronaldo said he was excited for the future at Old Trafford.
"What I know about him is that he has done a fantastic job for Ajax, that he is an experienced coach," Ronaldo told the official website of the Red Devils, "but we have to give him time. Things have to change as he wants. I hope he has success of course, because if "He will have success, every Manchester will also have success. I wish him the best."
The Portuguese phenomenon added: "We are happy and excited, not only as players, but also the fans. I wish him the best and let's believe that next year we are going to win titles."

Ronaldo has another year to end his contract after returning to Old Trafford from Juventus last summer, but there has been much speculation as to whether the 37-year-old will be included in Tenn Brother's plans.
Last week, interim manager Ralph Rangnick, who will take over as professional manager from next summer, insisted United should keep Ronaldo.
"Cristiano is not a key striker. It is clear that the club needs at least two new strikers who give this team more quality and more options. I would not even call it wingers," Rangnik said.
Despite a disappointing season for United that will miss qualifying for the Champions League next season, Ronaldo is considered the outstanding scorer with 24 goals in all competitions.
His 18 league goals are nearly a third of the team’s total.
