Werder Bremen will play in the Bundesliga again next season.

Coach Ole Werner's team celebrated a win against Jahn Regensburg on matchday 34 of the second division and secured second place and thus direct promotion.

Hamburger SV got the relegation place, thanks to a win in Rostock Darmstadt kept at a distance.

HSV will now meet Hertha BSC in the two playoffs.

The Bremen team had the most promising starting position, and with a win they were able to secure direct promotion under their own steam.

Werder took the lead early on, top scorer Marvin Ducksch put the ball down for Niclas Füllkrug, who first hit the left inside post and then the goal (10th minute).

Werder wobbled a little after half-time, but attacker Ducksch calmed the nerves of the Bremen fans with his 21st goal of the season.

Hamburger SV has the chance to return to the Bundesliga after four years in the second division.

In Rostock, HSV was not in top form at first, the hosts took the lead in the 13th minute.

Danylo Sikan refueled through the penalty area and put it on Nico Neidhard, who was able to push in from a short distance.

After the break, Hamburg equalized with a header from HSV top scorer Robert Glatzel (50').

And then it was Sebastian Schonlau who headed into the goal to give HSV the lead (75').

Substitute Mikkel Kaufmann then made it 3-1 with a dream goal.

Hansa managed to get the first goal, but the equalizer didn't come.

Now HSV meets Hertha in the relegation.

The first goal in the fight for promotion fell in Darmstadt.

In the second minute of the game, Tim Skarke headed in after a corner.

In the aftermath, the hosts didn't want to let anything burn when it came to their part in the fight for promotion.

In the first half, the Lilien literally overran their guests from Paderborn, countered two more goals by Luca Pfeiffer in the first half.

First, Peiffer increased after a quick throw-in and a well-placed cross into the six-yard box (25') in the 38th minute of the game, he then dusted off for a brace.

The Darmstadt team had done their job early on and didn't let anything burn in the second half either.

It shouldn't be enough though.

Schalke embarked on a championship course early on at 1. FC Nürnberg.

And how!

Rodrigo Zalazar saw from his own half that Nuremberg goalkeeper Carl Klaus was well in front of his own goal.

So he simply took a shot from almost 60 meters – and the ball landed in the net behind the stunned keeper (15').

In what was also a duel with few chances, the two clubs then kicked the ball back and forth in a friendly manner.

Schalke's second division championship shook for 97 seconds when Lukas Schleimer equalized for Nürnberg, then it was Schalke's top scorer Simon Terodde who made the decision with his 30th goal of the season.
