VfB Hallbergmoos won 3-0 in Schwabmünchen and the relegation is certain.

And even an early happy ending is still within the realm of possibility.

Hallbergmoos

– After the great race to catch up in the second half of the season, VfB Hallbergmoos has achieved partial goal one.

In the penultimate round of the Bayernliga Süd there was a well-deserved 3:0 (1:0) victory at relegated TSV Schwabmünchen.

Thus, VfB has the relegation safe and also a long-distance duel with Türkspor Augsburg for direct relegation.

The probability was very high in advance that with a threesome in the already relegated tail light, participation in the relegation is fixed.

But that meant that you were quite nervous about the mandatory win to the power of three.

30 meters in front of the opposing goal, VfB had bigger spaces than ever before.

But the team made little of it, seemed jittery and had an unusually high rate of bad passes.

On the other hand, however, there was a rather harmless bottom of the table who also played like a bottom of the table.

But Schwabmünchen was quite willing to accept any gifts from the guests.

Simon Werner makes it 1-0 for Hallbergmoos

In the middle of the first half, the Hallbergmooser kickers came through better and could have pulled the plug on the opponent with a 2-0 lead.

However, only one goal was scored, with Johannes Petschner passionately marching forward and finding Simon Werner with his cross pass (22nd).

The number 9 of VfB Hallbergmoos also scored a few minutes later after a sweet pass from Mert Sahin, but the referee saw it as offside.

The decision was doubtful.

However, the Schwabmünchener, who were unfit for the Bayernliga, also had the potential for a lucky punch.

Such would have been a long-range shot, which VfB keeper Martin Dinkel took out of the cross corner (35').

(By the way: everything from the region is now also available in our regular Freising newsletter.)

The fan in the stands already knew after 45 minutes that the relegation was almost fixed.

The two rivals Wasserburg and Dachau were already 0:4 behind - and with a VfB draw the extension of the season would have been certain.

But for two goals and a victory for Schwabmünchen, it took a thriving imagination.

Long-distance duel on the last matchday with Türkspor Augsburg

After the break, however, the game was quite strange.

The hosts were lurking for another chance to equalize, but were not offered it.

Hallbergmoos, on the other hand, didn't put the ball dangerously into the penalty area for a long time.

So another solution had to be found: Andreas Kostorz's free kick from around 30 meters hit the center under the crossbar, but was actually a goalkeeper's ball (75').

The opponent was beaten 2-0, so that the youngest player, Leon Schmit, scored a headed goal (80').

With a little more playing time, VfB would probably have shot down the opponent.

Now the focus is on the until recently unthinkable.

VfB Hallbergmoos is on the top relegation spot - and is playing for direct relegation with the currently two-point better team from Türkspor Augsburg.

If VfB wins against SV Donaustauf at home next Saturday and Augsburg loses in Wasserburg, there would be an immediate happy ending.

"We now have this chance and will try everything," says coach Matthias Strohmaier.

The undertone resonates that the matter will otherwise be settled via relegation.

Nobody likes to play against these Hallbergmoosers at the moment.
