1. FC Garmisch-Partenkirchen would have brought a win so urgently in the relegation battle.

But Durach has something against it.

Durach

– The players of 1. FC Garmisch-Partenkirchen couldn't really be happy.

They had the victory in Durach in mind, which, given the other results, would have been a milestone for staying in the league.

But two major dropouts within a minute of the game almost led to an even more desolate starting position.

The late equalization with a penalty kick saves the guests from safe relegation.

There was also a small consolation prize: Direct descent has been ruled out since Saturday.

Apparently not a good enough treat for the team.

"Everyone was depressed," says FC coach Hans-Georg Huber, describing the scenes in the dressing room after the game.

Sure: "You hardly let your opponent do it, but then you practically knock things in yourself."

Even the goalless draw at the break tended to be unsatisfactory for the guests.

They had great chances to shoot through Moritz Müller and Jonas Schrimpf, as well as a potentially dangerous free-kick from Michel Naber.

But VfB keeper Julian Methfessel was able to clean up all three situations in class mania.

The Allgäu had their best phase after the change of sides, when 1. FC was probably still mourning the missed opportunities.

Huber complained that the ball was "not properly cleared" in some scenes.

But the Werdenfelsers quickly rearmed.

"We found order again immediately." And finally struck.

Müller, who is always lurking when the enemy defensive line is playing around at the back, grabbed when Durach's full-back misjudged the distance to the middle.

The FC goalscorer raised his head and pushed in with the inside.

Remarkable insofar as Müller likes to prefer the tight shot, but during training during the week only shots with the inside instep were allowed.

"Seems to bring something," says Huber.

But then the two fatal mishaps and frosty moments in the FC camp.

The ball should have been clarified twice before equalizing, but in the end there was a corner for Durach, who rushed inside and landed in David Salcher's box on the third try.

As soon as the game was released again, the ball was again behind Salcher.

Martin Hennebach had lost control of an absolutely harmless moment and frittered away the ball in such a way that Maximilian Wieder was free to execute in front of Salcher – 1:2.

The Garmisch-Partenkirchen team reared up again.

Cheered up by the collective on the sidelines.

With success.

After Christoph Gruber threw on Moritz Müller against the rules, there was a penalty for FC and the traffic light card for the offender.

Stefan Durr certainly converted, but it would have been even nicer if Methfessel hadn't again achieved a brilliant feat against Schrimpf moments later.

This means that 1. FC Garmisch-Partenkirchen will face a showdown against Bayernliga promoted TSV Nördlingen next Saturday.
