On the last matchday of the 2nd league, three teams can still make direct promotion.

In the end, alongside Schalke 04, Werder Bremen also returned directly to the top flight.

HSV goes into relegation.

Berlin - Werder Bremen has made the return to the Bundesliga perfect and follows FC Schalke 04 back to the German top flight.

In the season finale of the 2nd Bundesliga, Bremen defeated Jahn Regensburg 2-0 (1-0) and, like the Gelsenkircheners, managed to get promoted again just a year after going into the second division.

Niclas Füllkrug (10th minute) and Marvin Ducksch (51st) scored for Bremen and sent the sold-out stadium into ecstasy.

Schalke secured the second division championship with a 2-1 (1-0) win at 1. FC Nürnberg.

Rodrigo Zalazar (15th) with a dream goal from almost 60 meters and top scorer Simon Terodde (88th) provided the goals for the Royal Blues, who had already celebrated early promotion on the penultimate matchday.

Victory does not help Darmstadt

Hamburger SV, who secured third place in the relegation zone, can still hope for promotion.

HSV won 3-2 (0-1) at Hansa Rostock and now meets Hertha BSC in the two relegation games, who missed out on staying in the Bundesliga in the Bundesliga final on Saturday.

Hansa took the lead in the 13th minute through Nico Neidhart, but Robert Glatzel (50th) and Sebastian Schonlau (75th) provided the Hamburg team with the victory they needed.

Pyrotechnics were detonated in the stadium and a fire broke out in one of the stands.

FC Erzgebirge Aue and FC Ingolstadt were already certain to be relegated before the last matchday.

Dynamo Dresden has to go into relegation, where they meet 1. FC Kaiserslautern, third in the third division.
