Celebration mood at FC Langengeisling.

Langengeisling – When the sovereign referee Johannes Pöllmann blew the whistle after 93 minutes, there was no stopping the FC Langengeisling players.

They had wrested a 2:2 (2:1) win from second-placed ESV Freilassing.

This was - after the competition had played along - the relegation in the district league done.

The people from Freilassing arrived with an unbelievable series of 16 wins in a row and mathematically even had the chance to win the championship title.

The guests from Geislingen approached early on, who tried long balls – long or diagonally – and mostly looked for their player coach and goalscorer Albert Deiter.

Out of nowhere then the lead for the FCL - a conclusion brand "Goal of the Month".

Maxi Birnbeck saw that ESV keeper Matej Markovic was a little too far in front of the goal, took aim and chased the ball into the net from a good 30 meters (13').

Almost 2-0 five minutes later.

After a spotless combination between Kilian Kaiser and Hannes Dornauer, Kaiser didn't hit the ball properly when he was standing alone.

The Geislinger remained physically present and did not let the favorites come into play.

It wasn't until the middle of the first half before ESV appeared dangerously in the FCL penalty area, but Andreas Högler, who had moved up, shot just wide.

Things got turbulent towards the end of the first half.

FCL goalkeeper Chris Brader saved against Deiter (42nd), and in return it was 2-0.

After a header defense, Kaiser volleyed the ball from around 18 meters away.

His shot hit the post low (44').

But in added time, Max Streibl brought his team back into play when he dusted off a Deiter shot that Brader blocked to make it 1-2.

In the second half, Freilassing was the better team, and a certain anxiety could be felt among the Geislingen team.

A sensational volley from Deiter hit the crossbar, Robert Schiller shot the rebound on goal, but Brader made an outstanding save (65').

In between, the hosts were able to free themselves again and again and then had the great opportunity to make it 3:1.

Birnbeck was freed, a defender scraped his low shot into the far corner off the line, and Lucas Seeholzer's follow-up shot was headed off the line by a defender (72').

In the 80th minute, ESV was successful - from the FCL point of view an avoidable goal: Brader and Marcel Geigerseder misunderstood a cross from the right, and Sascha Schimag, who was completely free, effortlessly scored to make it 2:2.

A little later Brader had to risk life and limb against Schimag with an unsuccessful back pass.

Then the people of Langgeislingen trembled towards the final whistle and were relieved when it finally sounded.

After the team had cheered exuberantly on the field, the relegation celebration continued with the fans and 100 liters of free beer.

The Freilassinger, on the other hand, are preparing for the promotion relegation.
