Rowing is one of the nine sports at the European Championships, which will take place in the Bavarian capital of Munich in the summer of 2022.

Munich – When the European Championships 2022 are held in Munich from August 11 to 21, 2022 in nine different sports, rowing will also be there.

At the European Championships in 2022, 24 European championship titles will be awarded in rowing.

All boats, from the nimble ones to the impressive eights, cover a distance of 2,000 meters.

The race track in Munich offers eight lanes.

The following applies to the mode: Depending on the number of boats, the fastest will either move into the A-run for the final decision after the pre-run, or a semi-final will initially reduce the number of participants.

Those who cannot qualify directly for the A run still have the chance to reach the final through repechage.

When it comes to rowing, differences are not only based on the number of rowers in the teams.

  • Sculling: Here the athletes hold an oar in each hand, the sculling.

  • Oar rowing: Each boat occupant moves only one oar, the so-called oar, with both hands.

In addition to the men and women in the various boat and rowing classes, the para athletes also determine four new European champions at the European Championships.

European Rowing Championships: Dates and Venue

The European Rowing Championships will take place between August 11th and 14th, 2022.

The four days of competition are full of programs, one race follows the next.

The schedule includes the following dates (as of December 6th, 2021, the organizer reserves the right to make changes):

  • Day 1: August 11, 2022, 9:00 a.m. – 4:50 p.m.: Heats in 20 disciplines, plus repechage heats in 6 disciplines

  • Day 2: August 12, 2022, 9:00 a.m. – 12:55 p.m.: Repechage races, lane distribution races as well as C-finals and semi-finals

  • Day 3: August 13, 2022, 8:30 a.m. – 2:33 p.m.: Repechage, B, Semi and A Finals

  • Day 4: August 14, 2022, 8:50 am – 2:10 pm: D, C, B and A finals (the most exciting day)

The rowing competitions take place on the legendary Olympic Regatta Course in Munich.

The venue is about six kilometers north of the Olympic Park and not only offered ideal conditions for athletes at the 1972 Olympic Games.

The facility is 2.23 kilometers long, 140 meters wide and 3 meters deep.

It is aligned with the prevailing wind directions.

Even in bad weather, the conditions are almost identical on all lanes for the teams and the stars of the scene such as Max Lemke, the multiple European and world champion and gold medalist with the German four at the Olympic Games in Tokyo.

European Championships Munich: Tickets for the rowing competitions

For the rowing competitions at the European Championships, tickets for freely selectable standing and grandstand seats are available in two different categories.

The following applies: A good view of the finish line and days when medals are awarded are more expensive.

Prices range from 10 to 50 euros per day pass.

In addition, tickets can be booked as season tickets and discounted combination tickets for the opening race.
