Sad news for European basketball fans.
Admula Okolaja, a former German national team basketball player, passed away at the age of 46. The reason for his death at such a young age was published.
Okulaja had all the data to become a successful NBA player.
He starred in North Carolina College alongside actors like Vince Carter who was one of his best friends, Antoine Jameson and Chamond Williams.
He had diverse and athletic abilities, but in the 1999 draft none of the best league teams in the world wanted him.
So he took his 2.06m to Europe and started roaming between teams, changing career stops every year.
He started in Alba Berlin, moved to Girona, from there to Barcelona, Malaga, Benton Treviso, Valencia, Cologne, Moscow Himki and more.
As mentioned, each season he changed teams, until he arrived in Bamberg in 2007, where, after a season, he was about to continue in the team, but then a cancerous growth was discovered on his spine and forced him to retire at the age of 33.
The high point of his career came at the age of 27, when he and Dirk Nevitsky, a former Dallas Mavericks star, won a bronze medal at the U.S. World Championships. He also appeared in the German national team uniform at the 2006 World Championships and four European Championships.
