The bronze medalist from the Tokyo Olympics, the taekwondo fighter Avishag Samberg, advanced today (Thursday) to the semi-finals of the European Championship, which takes place in Manchester, England.
The 20-year-old Samberg, who competes in the weight category up to 49 kg, automatically advanced to the quarterfinals, thanks to her high world ranking, when she met the Danish fight Theresa Castillo Jade and had no trouble beating her.
Also in the next round, against Germany's Superda Kiskot, a bronze medalist from the World Cadet Championships, the Israeli looked great and led from the start and although her opponent was still trying to shrink, Samberg's hand was on top in the end, which gave her a place in the semi-finals.
For Samberg, who won gold at the 2020 European Championships, this is the biggest competition since the Olympics last summer, when she competed in a number of round competitions and also picked up medals.
