Germering/Geretsried – The TuS Geretsried track and field athletes had a successful start to the season at the meeting in Germering.

This applies in particular to Xaver Seelos, who was only able to start over the 400 meter hurdles due to difficult preparation.

"Xaver wasn't quite fit and there are also oral Abitur exams.

The reason to start was to be able to show a competitive performance in order to qualify for the international U18 comparison in Brixen," explained coach and TuS chairman Mirko Naumann.

Abi disrupts the preparation

The athlete achieved this impressively with a new personal best of 56.64 seconds and second place.

The 17-year-old still had plenty of room for improvement.

"The hurdle crossings were anything but good and neither was the preparation during the Abi phase," said Naumann after his athlete had touched several hurdles.

Ultimately, however, it was not only enough for a starting place in Brixen, but also for the norm for the German championships.

And this is even valid for the coming years in the U20 class.

Best time for Chudalla over 100 m

Things went no less well for Seelos' club colleague Florian Chudalla.

He completed the 100-meter distance in 11.40 seconds and was thus faster than ever before.

“That was a great new best.

Despite suboptimal training because of his studies, he has improved by almost two tenths,” said Naumann happily.

The 20-year-old placed twelfth in a top-class field of 35 starters and was able to solve the A standard for the BM.

Meyer shows strong performance in the litter

Julian Meyer had a particularly long day to complete, who is also facing the challenges of the decathlon this year.

The 24-year-old competed in the 100 and 400 meter distances as well as in the discus and shot put.

The Geretsrieder showed a strong performance in the throwing disciplines and came fifth in the shot put (10.34 m) and ninth in the discus throw (27.96 m).

"It was a test for him to get used to the stress of a decathlon," explained Coach Naumann.

Due to the long day and the heat, however, the athlete was still lacking a bit of liveliness in the running competitions.

Accordingly, Meyer did not come close to his best performance - which is nothing unusual for the early part of the season.

It is still important to build up the form up to the peaks in summer.
