Niklas Süle decided against FC Bayern and for Borussia Dortmund.

Now he speaks openly about the reasons - the Munich club management does not come off well.

Munich – He wants to do what Mats Hummels has not been able to do to this day: switch from FC Bayern to BVB and snatch the championship trophy from the former club.

Niklas Süle says goodbye to Munich after five years and will wear black and yellow from the coming season.

The central defender decided relatively early on not to stay with Bayern.

Why?

The 26-year-old is now providing detailed information on this for the first time.

The short version: He felt undervalued by the club management.

Nicholas Sule

Born: September 3, 1995 (age 26), Frankfurt am Main

Height: 1.95 m

New club: Borussia Dortmund

Market value: 35 million euros

Niklas Süle explains why he left FC Bayern

"I played almost 170 competitive games for FC Bayern, despite a cruciate ligament rupture.

I think I've asserted myself at Bayern," he said in an interview with

Sport Bild

.

Former CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge had described Süle as a "useful player" who, however, "never really asserted himself".

Sule's answer is clear.

Ex-coach Hansi Flick put his trust in him when he substituted him on after the serious knee injury in the 25th minute of the Champions League final against Paris.

"I didn't feel this trust at all levels in the club.

I noticed: Okay, you have a certain standing in the team, among the employees and the fans - I didn't feel that from the club management," he explains.

FC Bayern: Süle immediately enthusiastic about the BVB vision

When he met the BVB officials, he immediately sensed this trust.

He was excited by the vision.

"I was immediately impressed by what BVB plans to do in the next four years.

This conversation was not about money for a second,” reveals Süle.

"I'm very aware that as a footballer I earn more than enough and don't have to worry about my livelihood."

In other words: FC Bayern Süle could not (or could not) convince with money.

The national player also responded to sharp criticism from Uli Hoeneß, who in turn accused him of not showing any appreciation by not playing the last game of the season - and spoke of a "catastrophic action".

FC Bayern: Süle reacts to Hoeneß attack

"Julian Nagelsmann asked me if it would be okay for me if I wasn't in the squad against Wolfsburg.

I accepted that.

When Marcel Sabitzer was injured, they said shortly before departure that I could come with them, but it was okay if not.

That was the story,” he says.

With Nico Schlotterbeck and Karim Adeyemi, Dortmund signed two more young German internationals.

FC Bayern once aspired to form the core of the national team.

At least the defense will probably be firmly in Dortmund's hands in the future.

Süle also had a declaration of war left: “We will really attack.

I'm going to a club that will do everything to ensure that Bayern don't win the championship for the eleventh time in a row."
