Taekwondo fighter Avishag Samberg tonight (Thursday) celebrated the silver medal at the European Championships in Manchester, England.
The 20-year-old Samberg achieved her second medal in the biggest continental competition, having won gold in 2020, when, if she recreated it, she would become the first athlete in the history of Israel to do so.
"It's been a long day," Mamberg pinched the championship.
"It ended in a silver medal, unfortunately it's not gold, but I will continue to work hard for next time, I really enjoyed the fights, fun to compete here, with all the atmosphere and organization I really enjoyed. Want to say thank you to everyone who supported me and was with me all along."
Maman teammate Yehiam Sharabi said: "Good day, Avishag did a very good job, obviously we want and expect gold, and next time I believe he would return to gold once again."
"I was aiming for a different result," said Assaf Yasur, who came out with the bronze medal in the Paralympic competition.
"But even from this day I will learn for the future. I know what my mistakes are and I know what I need to improve.
Tomorrow (Friday), on the second day of the European Championships, Uri Patishi (up to 57 kg) and Dana Azran (over 73 kg) will participate.
