Ebersberger badminton player for the 30th anniversary promoted for the first time through fortunate circumstances.

Ebersberg – On the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the founding of the badminton department of TSV Ebersberg, the badminton department made a historic “slip” up to the state stage.

Actually, according to team spokesman Karsten Borgmann, the first team started the past district league season with modest expectations.

Just no descent and classify safely and stress-free in the middle.

“We never expected that we would play for promotion.

But amazingly, that’s exactly what has worked now!”

A chain of many fortunate circumstances successfully maneuvered the district townspeople through the Corona imponderables of this game round, which was unusual in many ways.

"In terms of the composition of the teams, we were doing relatively well in terms of infections and only had to cancel one matchday without a fight.

In addition, we were able to win many tight games happily and narrowly.”

In the duel with Neubiberg-Ottobrunn it looked even tighter

In addition to the exceptional player Matthias Bader, who won 19 of his 21 matches across disciplines, the two women in the team, Ute Rupprecht (mixed/doubles) and Ricarda Herter (singles/doubles), would have contributed to this with an above-average number of point wins.

Nevertheless: It was by no means as clear as the performance gap between runner-up Ebersberg and the chasing field, led by third-placed TSV Neubiberg-Ottobrunn III, in the final table;

although the two direct duels with Neubiberg each went 6:2 to Ebersberger.

In the beginning was April, rise is in the offing

At the beginning of April, i.e. three weeks before the last matchday, TSV department head Gabriele Schindele locates the internal tipping point.

"We saw: Ui!

We're moving up the table.

That's when some started to dream.” It was already foreseeable that direct promotion and the championship title, which SV Lohhof II secured without defeat, would not be enough.

But Fortuna winked again at the county seat.

"Lohhof can't or doesn't want to get promoted, so we're going straight up to the Bayernliga now," says Borgmann happily.

“Without a relegation round.” However, Borgmann’s team is not tackling the sporting biggest “adventure” since the department was founded in 1992 without question marks.

From now on only in full cast

For example, Matthias Bader is still considering for health reasons whether he can even accompany the Bayernliga premiere.

"Of course we're still trying to convince him, but we will definitely have to change the composition of the team," said Borgmann, who fears losing the strongest men's doubles team in Ebersberg.

Mehmet and Kaan Cay come from Moosinning, followed by Hrvoje Plazanic

For this they want to throw two talented reinforcements from their own youth into the cold Bavarian league water.

In addition, department head Schindele does not rule out “one or the other external newcomer”.

From now on, only a full team may play (at least four men plus two women) and each home club must appoint an official referee on match days.

TSV department head: "We also have doubters"

Of course, time and travel costs increase as well.

"Some clubs have therefore already given up on promotion and we also have doubters in TSV," says Schindele.

“But my tenor was already with our last two promotions: try and gain experience.” Borgmann can only confirm that and adds: “And if the Bayernliga adventure is over after a year, okay.

We won't ruin it."
